Chapter 49 - A Long Day

After the room contest, I headed to my room and went to bed. The next day, the teachers gave us a day off which, we spent chilling in the common room. Later that night, Mr. Aizawa came with me to the hospital since the school requires us to have a chaperone.

The two of us sat in the waiting room in the hospital. I watched a TV as the new caster talked about how Hawks recently got into a fight with a villain that almost killed him. A nurse came out of the hospital door and called my name. The two of us followed the nurse into the hospital. We enter a room with the doctor that greeted me when I woke up. They were looking through a file in front of them, and their hair was a complete mess.

Mr. Aizawa and I sat down as the doctor looked up. They put down the folder and cleared their throat, "Um, hello again, Ms. Dent. It's good to see you. Now we have finished looking at your blood sample, and we found an interesting result." They picked up one of the papers, "It seems that the league was trying to alter your DNA to let your body be capable of housing multiple quirks." Both Mr. Aizawa and I stared at the doctor in horror. "They seem to have given you a second quirk." They walked in front of me, "We think you can enable it by tensing the muscles in your back."

"Think?" I asked.

"Well, we're not quite sure since nothing like this has ever happened before." I took a deep breath and started tensing my back up. After about a minute, the doctor's eye widened. I looked at my arms and saw that they weren't there anymore. I watched as my skin slowly disappeared. Soon my entire body was gone.

I looked over to see Mr. Aizawa with a shocked face. He turned to the doctor and asked, "Do you know if she can fix... this."

"It should be the same way she turned it on." I tensed my back up to see my skin slowly reappearing.

I didn't know how to feel about this. This was pretty cool. But I hate that the league changes my genetics.

The doctor picked up the file again and started looking through it. They said, "from your research, we have figure out how the league might be making Nomu. So even though you got captured. You have helped so much in finding out how to fight against the league."

Then Mr. Aizawa cut in, "How many people know about this?"

"It's only the doctor who analyzed her blood and the chief of police. He has said that we can't let anyone know. If people found out that someone can get another quirk, people might start going crazy. We let you come in because your her teacher, and you'll have to help her control this better."

Mr. Aizawa nods, and we leave the hospital. Once we got into Mr. Aizawa's car, he said, "You can't tell any of your class about this."

"What about my family?" I asked.

"No. If they start telling people, then I don't want to imagine what'll happen."

"What about the other teachers?"

"I'm not sure yet. Probably not since the less that know about this, the better."

We started driving back to school in silence. During the ride, I got a text from Denki saying to meet him in the front lobby. Mr. Aizawa parked the car, and I headed off to the dorms.

I went inside, and no one was there. It was eleven at night, so it makes sense. I looked around the common room and didn't see Denki. So I made my way to the area leading to the bathroom. I stopped when I saw Denki kissing Kyoka with his arms wrapped around her waist.

The two of them noticed that I was there, and Denki's face shifted to a horrified expression. Kyoka pushed Denki away from her and said, "(Y/n) what are you doing here?"

"I'm sorry. I'm just passing through." I turned around and ran up to my room. I slammed the door behind me as I slid my back against the door. I reach the floor and put my head in my hands.

After a bit of sobbing into my hands, I could hear a knock at my door. "(Y/n), you shouldn't slam your doors," Iida said from the other side of the door.

"Sorry," I said.

"(Y/n)? Are you alright? You don't sound well."

"I-I'm fine."

"(Y/n), please open the door." I got up and opened the door to see Iida. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, it's just been a long day."

"Do you wish to talk about it?"

"No, I'm fine." I started to close the door, but Iida stopped me.

He enters my room and shut the door behind him, "I can't leave one of my classmates when I know they're struggling."

"Iida, I'm fine."

He grabbed my shoulder and pulled me into a hug. "It's fine if you don't want to tell me, but at least let me comfort you." I didn't have the energy to fight him, so I put my head on his shoulder.

We stay like that for a bit until I heard a knock at my door. Iida opened the door to see Denki standing there. I turned around as Denki tried to enter my room. "(Y/n) I need to talk to you," Denki said.

Iida stopped him from entering and shoved him into the hallway. "Kaminari, I think you should leave."

"No, I need to talk to (Y/n). (Y/n)! (Y/n)! Please let me explain!" Denki started to push against Iida.

"Can both of you just leave," I asked?

Denki POV

"Can both of you just leave," you asked?

"Alright," Iida said as he pushes me out of her room. He closed the door behind him, and he started glaring at me. "What do you think you're doing?"

"I'm trying to talk to my girlfriend. What do you think you're doing?"

"Girlfriend? You know it's quite sad to make up lies like that."

"It's not a lie! I just need to talk to her."

"Kaminari, go back to your room, now. Before I have to call one of the teachers." Iida grabbed my arm and dragged me to my room. He opened the door to my room and shoved me inside.

He slammed the door behind me, and I groaned. Turning on the light, I saw someone standing in my room. Jirou was sitting at my desk, holding one of my hats. She looked up and said, "You have horrible taste in fashion."

"Why would you do that!?"

"Because (Y/n) deserves so much better than you."

She walked over to me and shoved my hat into my chest. As she left my room, she threw my phone on the ground, causing my phone's screen to break.

I picked up my phone to see that it was open to a text from me saying to meet you in the common room.

(Y/n) POV

Getting ready for bed, I was about to go to sleep when I got a text. The text was from Kyoka saying, "Hey, are you okay. You seemed pretty upset earlier."

I texted back, "Yeah, I'm fine. I was just a little shocked to see you too."

"Sorry about that. Kaminari asked me to come downstairs, and when I got there, he grabbed me and kissed me."

"Okay." With that, I turned off my phone and went to sleep.
