Chapter 20 - Sports Festival

I'm going to change my updating schedule from Saturday to Sunday. Sorry about being late. I'm not gonna lie; I was playing Minecraft all week.

Timeskip

Two weeks have passed, and it's the day of the sports festival. I spent my time building up my strength, but I wasn't able to train since the doctors didn't want me pushing myself.

Everyone arrived at school earlier trying to avoid the paparazzi and made our way to the stadium. As everyone put on their gym uniforms, everyone was talking about how nervous they were. I was talking to Momo and Jirou while stretching. Momo introduced me to her a week ago, and we have been friends since.

Iida opened the door and said, "Everyone gets your game faces on! We're entering the arena soon!".

I stopped stretching and started to go to the door when I was Todoroki walking across the room. I was going to say something to him, but he walked right past me, "Midoryia".

"What's up?".

"From an objective standpoint, I think it's fairly clear that I'm stronger than you".

"Yeah...".

"However, you've got All Might in your corner helping you out. I'm not here to pry about what's going on between you two, but know that I will beat you".

Kirishima walked over, to I guess, try and stop Todoroki, "Yeah, what's the big deal? Why you picking a fight all of a sudden and right before we get started?".

"We're not here to be each other's friends. Don't forget this isn't a team effort".

"Wait a sec Todoroki, I don't know what's going through your head or why you think you need to tell me that you'll beat me, and yeah, of course, you're better than me in fact you probably have way more potential than anyone in the hero course. That's why you got in so easily".

Thanks, Midoryia. I'm feeling the love.

"Midoryia maybe you're being a little hard on yourself and us".

"No. He's right, you guys. All the other courses, they're coming for us with everything they've got. We're all gonna have to fight to stand out, and I'll be aiming for the top two.

"Fine".

After that, everyone left the locker room and walked into the arena. I stood near Midoryia while walking out since he was near the front. "I didn't know there'd be so many people".

"You're surprised?", I asked.

"Huh? Yeah... I mean, we're lonely first years".

"Yes, but we survive a villain attack, so everyone will be interested in seeing how we do", added Iida while he looked around the stadium. After we came out of class B and, I thought I saw someone who looked familiar; however, I don't know why. Then general study classes came out, and I saw that guy with purple hair. Behind them was the support courses students and business.

Once everyone was in the center of the arena, the umpire Ms. Midnight started her speech, "Silence everyone! And for the student pledge, we have Katsuki Bakugo!". We all turned to him with pain painted on our faces.

"He's the first year rep?".

"Guess that hot head did finish first in the entrance test".

"Only for the hero course", another student from general studies said.

"Oh... right...".

"That girl obviously hates us".

"Yeah, and we've got Bakugo to thank for them not liking our class".

We all watched in silence as Bakugo made his way to the mic and finally started talking, "I just want to say, I'm gonna win".

"BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!", was all I could hear from the other students.

"WHY WOULD YOU BE SO DISRESPECTFUL! YOU'RE REPRESENTING US ALL!".

"Not my fault you all are just stepping stones to my victory".

One of the class one B students started yelling, but I wasn't paying attention. After knowing him this long(which isn't a long time but still a lot). He didn't mean that as a joke. He meant what he said.

"Without further ado, it's time for us to get started! This is where you begin feeling the pain. The first fateful game of the festival". The word obstacle course flashed up on the screech, and a small smirk appeared on my lips. "All 11 classes will participate in this treacherous continent that drives four kilometers around the outside of the stadium. I don't want to restrain anyone, at least in this game. As long as you don't leave the course, your free to do whatever your heart desires! Now then take your places contestant!".

Everyone was hurrying to the front of the gate while I stayed near the back. This event is going to be easy.

"BEGIN!".

Everyone started running towards the gate and getting caught while I teleport right past all of them. I made sure to only teleport to places I could see. Now I was in the lead and looking behind me; I could see Todoroki freezing the ground and running toward me with a determined look. I playfully waved at him before further ahead in the course. I teleport right past the robots as I heard Bakugo yell, "GET BACK HERE, YOU TWO!!!". Continuing, I passed the ropes and the land mines in seconds.

"Uhhhh... We already have your first place winner!" Present Mic shouted. Everyone that was still trying to get out of the gate wiped their heads around as I smiled happily. "Class 1A, (Y/n) Dent has claimed the first place stop in record timing!". Everyone watched in silence, shocked by my quirk.

Looking at the screens showing everyone else, Todoroki had just frozen a large group of robots. I also saw one of the business course students selling popcorn, so I teleported to the locker room and grabbed my wallet. I moved back and quickly paid for my snack. Putting back my wallet and being careful not to waste my power, I sat on the wall surrounding the arena. I watched as everyone got to the second obstacle. Todoroki was still in the lead, and Bakugo was close behind him. The two of them continued to the land mines; Todoroki careful until Bakugo flew past him, so Todoroki gave up and started to make an ice path. However, a giant explosion engulfed the back of the obstacle, and out of if came Midoryia flying to first place. The three of them ran into the stadium and, Midoryia ended up coming out of the tunnel first.

Once they entered the stadium, confetti started falling all around us. I teleported down there as Midoryia was crying. "Good Job Midoryia!", I said as he wipes away his tears.

"Thanks, you did great!".

"Popcorn?", I held out the bag, and he happily took a handful.

"DENT!!!", Bakugo shouted from behind me.

"Dang, using my last name. How cold".

He made his way over to me with a murderous look, "I'M GOING TO KILL YOU".

Before I could get slaughtered, Midnight announced the next event: cavalry battle. She explained how the game worked and then said, "Now the point assignments go up by increments of five starting from the bottom, for example, 42nd place is worth five points, and 41st is worth ten and point value assigned to the first place contestant is 10 million".

I'm sorry, what?

I could every single person around me glaring and the audience staring at me with excitement. My throat got tight, and my heart was pounding. "That's right! It's survival of the fittest with a chance for those at the bottom to overthrow the top!".

From behind me, I heard a Bakugo growl, "You're going down, Dent".

Pulling myself together, I turned around and smirked, "I liked to see you try". Bakugo's face twisted into an evil smile. I could also see that everyone around me was staring at me with an intense look.
