"ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT to do this?" Nina asks Nyx as they stand in the snowy woods, fur coats covering them from the cold weather. She takes a deep breath, before nodding. Once they met up with the delegates Kaz had miraculously been able to set up a meeting with, there would be no turning back.
"I've never been more sure about something as I am right now." Nyx assures her, making Nina sigh and nod in acceptance.
"It'll be best if I talk to them. Since you've told me all the necessary information, you won't have to interfere." Kaz says as he turn to look at Nyx who nods in understanding. She couldn't let this go wrong. Too much was at stake.
It pained her to think that she would have destroy the Little Palace and possibly the Second Army, but the pain he had caused her trumped over that. Nothing in the world would ever change that. At night the possibilities and the futures they had dreamt of together, they'd haunt her and cause her even more heartache.
Was the destruction of a whole army necessary to get what she wanted? In a perfect world, no. But this was the world she lived in and it was the price she would have to pay. Her pain and anger would not let her rest until he watched his world crumble at her feet. At times even she wished for his death, but that would not be as painful as the heartache he will feel.
"You and the Darkling are kind of mad crazy. The things you do." Jesper says teasingly as Kaz and Inej leave them behind to go talk to the delegates.
"Oh, I can be worser than him." Nyx says nonchalantly and Jesper snickers.
"I like that. The confidence. I have no idea what's going on between you two. For all I care you could be fighting over which colour to decorate your rooms, but I'm rooting for you." Jesper says, making her beam. Amusement sparked in her eyes at his words.
"Thanks. I appreciate that." She smiles, her grip on the fox fang loosening. She had killed the white fox and taken its fang before they departed, attaching a string to it for a makeshift necklace. She wasn't planning on wearing it until she got back at the Little Palace.
She wanted to see the disbelief on his face as she put on the second amplifier. She wanted to see him realise that the power he'd been trying to control was about to unleash on him for the worse. She wanted him to beg for his life because he knew she'd become near to unstoppable.
She lets out a breath as it hits her, that her anger had turned into blood thirst. She need him dead. She needed to hear the last flutter of his heart echoing in her ears. He would never be able to be forgiven. Her grip on the amplifier tightens once again. She can feel the sharp point of the tooth digging into her skin, the warmth of blood slowly flowing down her palm.
"What's your plan after? Are you going to be the General?" Nina asks, making her shake her in response.
"No. Someone else will. I don't want him or me to be there anymore." Nyx answers softly, causing Nina to look at her in confusion.
"So, the plan is for you and him to live in a little cottage away from this?" Nina asks and Nyx scoffs in response.
"No."
"Can't you just go back and prove to him that he has no power over you? Do you have to go through all of this?"
"Does it bother you so much that the Little Palace will be destroyed?" Nyx hisses in annoyance, making Nina's eyes widen. "If you cared so much about it why did you leave?"
"I had my reasons." Nina says defensively.
"And I have mine, Nina. You can't stop me." Nyx says firmly and Nina sighs.
"I'm not trying to. I just don't want you to regret this." She says softly and Nyx shakes her head.
"Nothing in the world will make me regret this." Nyx assures her, just as Kaz and Inej get back. One look at the two lets her know that they'd succeeded. Her heart flutters at the thought of getting closer to succeeding.
He has no idea what's coming for him.
