A very miserable christmas

*Wilhelms pov*

"Hope you have a nice Christmas"

These words replayed in my mind, like a mixtape repeating over and over.
God I'm such a fucking idiot for saying I love you.
Even though it was true, Simon treated me like I was more than just a prince. Like a normal boy, he was gentle, caring and everything I've ever wanted and more.

I sat on my bed, pulled out my phone and typed Simon's Instagram username. He posted a photo a day ago, it was of him, Sara, his mum, Rosh and Ayub.

They were all looking at the camera smiles wide. Simon was wearing a Santa hat, he was beaming at the camera.

Tears start to form in my eyes, he looked so happy and here I was cooped up in my room and not even talking to my parents. Other than that small talk like " good morning" and so on.

These holidays have gone by so slow.
My days consist of staying in my room all day, other than coming out for meals and parties my parents host. They're full of old privileged white couples who talk about real estate and shit. I'm probably gonna become like them in the years to come, I cringe at the thought.

" Crown prince, your parents want me to remind you that dinner is on the table." "Crown prince? Are you coming?"
" I'm coming" I verified in a Whiny voice.
I hate it when people call me that ' crown prince' I feel like it's not my title but Eriks.

"Hello Wilhelm" my mother said as I finally made it to the dining room. " Hey mum" I replied sitting down in the leather chair. "So as you know school starts tomorrow, I just wanted to remind you what your father and I talked to you about . No-"
"Yes mum I remember, no mistakes, no parties, no dramas, no anything that can even slightly make the monarchy look bad. Oh and I forgot no relationship with Simon." I interrupted.
"Manners Wilhelm!" my dad said sternly.
My mum looked at me like I was a disappointment, I sometimes wonder if she preferred me in the car crash than my brother.
After that we ate in silence, I had finished so I picked up my plate. " Wilhelm sit down for a minute." I slid back into my chair. " With everything that has happened with you and- that boy." She was too disgusted to even say his name. " We think that you should start to consider dating a girl your age from Hilleskra, it will make a good image. " what? No." I said firmly. " Wilhelm it's time to stop being so selfish, you need to understand that me and your father only want the best for you." " Fine then if you want me to start dating, let me be with Simon." I said staring into my mothers eyes.
She scoffed. " You expect me to support you to be in a relationship with that piece of trash?"
"HE IS NOT A PIECE OF TRASH!" I yelled, I stood up so fast that my fork fell to the ground. " Erik would be so disappointed in you."
Tears formed into my eyes.
"Fuck this."
I said before waking out of the room. My loud sobs echoed in the hallways.

I made it to my room and slammed the door, tears running down my cheeks like a water fall. Why did she have to keep bringing up Erik in our arguments?

I sat on my bed. Trying to forget about my life, I pulled out my phone and looked at the picture Simon posted earlier. Even though the picture shattered my heart it also brought warmth to it, and I was still trying to understand how that could be.

My thumb hovered over the photo and then...

Fuck.

A heart covered the middle of the picture.

No, no, no, no, he's going to see I liked it. Would he think it was weird given everything we had been through? I climbed into my bed, pulling the sheets over my head. I needed to get sleep for tomorrow since school started. I closed my eyes but that's when it hit me. I'm going to have to face him. I knew I was going to see him but, god I'm going to SEE him.
