Chapter 2 - Insecurities

George

I woke up the next morning and I was happy. Another day to annoy Maddie.

I arrived at school and went to her locker. "Mornin' whale!" "Whale?" "Yeah, you're as fat as a whale." I laughed. She walked away. Is she not going to say anything ?

It was lunch time and I spotted Tanner. "Hey, Lark!" "It's Karl, George. Karl." He sighed  "Yeah, I don't care. Where's Maddie ?" I asked. "Why do you care, bodyshamer ?" He pointed out. "Look, just answer the question." I said. "She went home. She didn't feel well, mentally and physically." He walked away. She went home ?

Usually, she doesn't care about what I tell her... This is weird.

After school, I overheard Nick and Wilbur saying they were going to hang out. Perfect opportunity to go to Maddie's house and see what's her problem.

I went to Starbucks and bought myself a Dragon Fruit Drink and bought Maddie a Pink Drink.

I arrived at her house and knocked on the door. Her mom answered. Isn't her mom supposed to be on a business trip ? "George! What a nice surprise! How are you doing, son ?" She said. Son ? What's going on...

First, Maddie runs off and is offended by me calling her fat which hasn't happened in years so it's kind of weird.
Second, Asia, Maddie's mom calls me son ? Am I dreaming ?

"I'm great Ms. Laurier! What about you " I answered politely. "That's great ! I'm too!" She answered.

"Is Maddie home ?" I asked. She looked at me with wide eyes. "You're looking for Maddie ?" She said, pretty shocked. "Umm.. yeah." "That's odd. Don't you guys, like, hate each other ? You have been enemies for a pretty long time. "Yeah.. It's just that she ran off today, I don't know why. Usually, when I give her like mean comments, she fights back. Today, she ran off." I explained. "Oh.. Alright then. She is in her room. The room on the right upstairs." She pointed. "Thanks, Ms. Laurier." I thanked her.

I went upstairs towards Maddie's room and Asia went to the kitchen. I knocked on her door.

Maddie

To be honest, I really didn't give a damn about George's comment. I just wanted to see what he would do if I just ran off. It was pretty offensive but coming from him, I really did not care. I was minding my own business, doing homework until someone knocked on the door.

"It's open!" I shouted loud enough so the person on the other side of the door could hear me. The door opened and I wasn't expecting him to be the one to knock on my door.

"I'm not sure, either I am blind, hallucinating, or George Henry Davidson is knocking on my, Maddie Laurier's door." I said with sarcasm. "Ugh, it's the third one." He said, extremely annoyed. I laughed. "I love seeing you mad. It makes my heart, shine! You know? When the person you hate is mad, you just feel victorious." I said and he rolled his eyes. "Don't roll your eyes too much, Davidson, they might get stuck like that." I said laughing so hard inside me. He groaned.

"Why are you here anyway ?" "Nothing. I got bored and decided to bother you. Bye!" And he ran off. What?

George

All the sudden, I felt nervous. I had a weird feeling in my stomach and I don't know what it is. What could it be ?
