Chapter 13 – He's acting like a scumbag

A charming waiter arrived with a bottle of wine. "Please, just plain water," Ashley refused.

"You don't drink wine?" Kyle asked in surprise.

"I can't hold a cup of wine without ending up falling asleep."

"Why, I know Ashley Summer's weakness now."

Ashley snorted. "Hardly a weakness if I choose not to drink."

He shrugged. "Then I have to admit that consuming wine is one of my specialties."

Ashley raised her eyebrow when he drank his wine without any food on sight. "No doubt it is."

"It's a waste that you can't drink. Not even a sip?"

"I think it's better for me not to." Ashley took a sip of her water, acting as if it tasted delicious, and it earned a laugh from Kyle.

"Got it, the rest of this babe will end in my stomach." Kyle placed his wine glass down. "You must be very curious about why I invited you here."

"Didn't you say you wanted me to help you with Sean? Don't tell me you were lying?"

"Well, not exactly. I'm also here to explain something about him to you."

Ashley sighed and leaned back on the chair. "But first, tell me the truth. Are you helping Sean with his crazy act?"

Kyle shook his head. "No. I was completely oblivious that he had regained his memory. I only knew after you left and he went crazy."

After knowing that Kyle was also in the dark, the small doubt in her heart towards him dissipated. Even though Kyle was Sean's good friend, she would not be rude towards an innocent party.

"Is his wife back yet?"

"Jean? No. The meeting was extended due to some additional problems that popped out at the wrong time. Even if she had returned, Jean can't help him, not when you are the one that he wants."

"I made it very clear to him that I no longer want anything to do with him. So right now, I'm telling you this as well," Ashley said.

"But he's not willing to let you go."

"Kyle, I'm not sure if he told you anything about us, but we are over. He signed the divorce papers without anyone pointing a gun at him to force him. Please understand that I don't want to meet him again."

Kyle sighed. "It's true that I don't know what happened between you both, but I'm quite sure he still loves you."

"No, he doesn't. After the divorce, there's no been contact until now." She quickly cleared her throat to stop her voice from breaking. "Just let it go, Kyle. He is just playing around when he already has a new wife. He's acting like a scumbag."

Kyle coughed. "Well, I agree he's acting like a scumbag. But that scumbag is also my friend who is slowly driving me insane. He would often go missing during office hours without telling me where he went. I have to deal with angry clients and colleagues while trying to find him at the same time. Being a secretary to this type of person is just so difficult."

"What a minute. You are his secretary?" Ashley asked in shock and examined him critically.

"You think a secretary should be a woman?"

Ashley blushed and shook her head. "No, it's just that... It's surprising." He looked so elite that no one would think he would be a secretary.

Kyle laughed. "You are not the only one that's surprised when I tell them my occupation."
