Hi Everyone! I hope you enjoyed chapter 7! Here we will get to know Isaac a little more :)))One thing that could be said about 3am showers is that they put you into a sleep that rivals sleeping beauty. But my awakening wasn't exactly fairy-tale worthy, as I was shaken awake by both Jameela and Klara.
"Maybe she's dead," I heard Jameela say bluntly, lifting one of my hands and letting it flop back onto the mattress with a thud.
"Should we bury her then?" Klara asked, bringing her head close to my ear. "I know a good coffin place," She said, leaning over to speak loudly in my ear. I groaned, showing signs of life, brushing her face away from my ear with my hand. Rubbing my eyes, I shot out both my legs, stretching deeply and trying to bring life back into my stiff body.
"I'm alive," I said, "Don't bury me just yet."
"How come you're so tired?" Jameela questioned. "You went to bed at like, six." Her hair was in two thick braids, adorned with red scrunchies.
"Nine," I corrected her, clicking my tongue. "I don't know, I just had a restless night." I wasn't about to tell them about what happened. I felt awkward about it, and I'm guessing Isaac wouldn't want me telling anyone about when I had witnessed. Luckily, they took my answer without question, instead bustling me out the door, barely giving me time to get changed out of my pajamas. Apparently, it was pancake day, so everyone was in high spirits.
I topped my pancakes with whipped cream and blueberry sauce. I felt excited about this too, for some strange reason – although I did really like pancakes. I shared my thoughts with Liam, who shrugged.
"Not much happens around here," he said, and continued eating, his plate stacked six pancakes high. "Although, I wish we would do waffles instead of pancakes." He lifted a forkful up, staring at it intently.
"Aren't they basically the same thing?" Jameela said.
"No! I like the pattern waffles offer. You can fill all the little squares with butter and syrup. That's the best part."
"Hmm," she mused in response. "I thought the actual pancake part was the best?"
"Absolutely not." He scrunched his eyebrows, looking at her in faux judgement. "Don't be silly."

After breakfast, I was shocked to go back to the room and find Klara getting ready to leave, applying some pink lipstick in front of the mirror, eyes squinted in concentration.
"Where are you off to?" I asked. Embarrassingly enough I had gotten so used to following what she did, I hadn't had to be here without her yet. Although I suppose I would have to be on my own at some point here.
"I have my job interview today! It's with the cutest little cafe." She smiled at me and gave a little pat on my shoulder, closing the cap to her lipstick. "Wouldn't you want to hire me?" She gave a little twirl, hands on her hips.
"Definitely," I laughed uneasily, nodding my head a little too much. She turned back to her dresser, fishing out a black cardigan and shaking it off a few times.
"I forgot to iron this thing. Do you think they'll care about a few wrinkles? If this whole thing hinges on my appearance I don't want to work there anyways."
"I bet the wrinkles will relax as you wear it," I offered, sitting down at the foot of her bed, tucking my feet underneath me. She hummed, smoothing out the wrinkles with her hands as she inspected herself in the mirror.
"Yeah, you're probably right. I don't own an iron anyways."
"I'm sure Taryn would have one available if you wanted one." She turned back to me, holding up one finger.
