Chapter 10: The Disappearance and The Dance.

I'm going to be late again!" Daniel said as he ran out the door.

"What's up with him? He's going to be early by a few minutes," Abigail said as she walked towards the door and grabbed her backpack.

"... I guess I'm early for once," Daniel said as he arrived at school and saw Sarah walking towards him.

"Daniel!?" Sarah practically screamed.

"Hey! Is that you, Daniel?" Mia asked as she arrived.

"Surprise! I woke up earlier than I thought," Daniel said, reaching up and scratching his head.

"I'll say you woke up early!" Mia said as she nudged him in the arm.

"Well since you're here earlier than usual let's go ahead and prove it to Mr. Studder!" Sarah said as she went on ahead of them.

"Wait for me!" Daniel said as he went after her with Mia.

"Daniel!? Is it that late already!?" Mr. Studder yelled as he jumped out of his seat.

"No! I just woke up early today," Daniel said.

"Well, you have time before you have to be here so you can go do whatever you need to or want to."

"Okay," Daniel said as he got up and walked out of the classroom. "Okay, Daniel. You can do this no need to be afraid everything will work out," Daniel said as he freaked out about something.

"Talking to yourself?" Caleb asked as he walked over to Daniel.

"NO!! I would never talk to myself or try to give myself a pep talk," Daniel said as he hid his face.

"That's not going to convince me, besides I find it obvious that you were talking to yourself to prepare yourself to ask someone to the dance."

"How do you always know what's going on with me?"

"Well it's obvious that since we received the news that by some miracle Tom was fine, you got happier and then I noticed that you started to plan something but I couldn't tell what before I had to leave, so I had a feeling that you were planning something like this."

"Got any words of advice before I take the dive?"

"Dude, I can only tell you two things. One I've never asked anyone out let alone be on a date or go to a dance. Two be yourself. You want them to like you, not an act you put up," Caleb said as looked Daniel in the eye. "You're gonna fail! Good luck anyway!"

"That was encouraging," Daniel said as he took one step towards the door when Sarah came out of the room.

"Oh! Hi, Daniel!" Sarah said, smiling.

"H-hey!" Daniel said as he blushed.

"I have to go get something and then I'll be back in the classroom so I'll see you in a bit!"

"W-wait! Sarah!"

"What?"

"I, well, I... I was... c-curious no that's not the word... I... I w-wanted to know if y-you w-would... if you would... if you would go to the... the d-dance with... with me?" Daniel said as he stuttered and stumbled on his words and as his face turned a bright shade of red.

"Oh! Well. I... I don't know how to say this but... remember the hospital?"

"Yeah. I-I do."

"I told you that I shouldn't have hugged you for two reasons. You see not only was I unsure whether or not you would be okay with it but I... I like someone else. Don't get me wrong, I like you too! I just like him more. Both of you are so cute and kind and helpful but I think I like him a little more. Besides, look at you and Mia. You two are so close and you two knew about the hero thing before I did and you two are always with each other. I also know that you like her too. All I have to do is look at your face when you look at her and it's the same loving look you give me. I think that you two would do better and would work better together anyway. I'm so sorry," Sarah said as she looked sorrowfully into Daniel's eyes.
