Cal sat up groggily and rubbed her eyes. She hissed in pain. She looked around and saw she was on the couch in the Curtis house. Two-Bit was sitting on the floor with an entire chocolate cake watching Mickey mouse. Darry and Soda were getting ready for work and Dal was in the arm chair.
Darry noticed she was awake, "Hey, how ya' feelin'?"
"Fine, head hurts like hell,"
"Well you look like shit," Two chimed in.
"Thanks,"
Dally looked at her, "Glad you're not dead,"
"Thanks"
"So what happened?" Soda asked.
"Um so, there's somethin' y'all don't know about me. I may or may not be a street fighter" She rushed though the last part of the sentence.
"What?!" Dal jumped to his feet.
She held her hands up, "Its not that bad,"
"Not that bad?!? You got stabbed!"
She struggled to her feet. "That wasn't supposed to happen,"
"Oh that makes it so much better," Dally's voice dripped with sarcasm. "streetfighting? Really Cal, I thought you were smart,"
Cal was starting to get defensive, "Dont talk to me like that,"
"OhI thinkI'm gonna talk to you how I want 'cause you were dumb enough to get yourself stabbed. How long have you been doing this?"
She gritted her teeth, "3 years,"
"Oh well that's just great, I cant belive you are such an idiot"
Everyone was frozen watching the siblings fight.
Cal seethed with rage,"Hey! Don't fucking talk to be like that. I make no apologies for whatI did. You left, you left me with dad and I did what I had to to so you can go fuck off, And get off your fucking high horse. It's not like your life choices have been any better. How many times have you been in jail, 12 or 13? I cant remember. "
"This isn't about me!"
"Oh no, nothing's ever about you, nothing is ever your fault, be carful you're starting to sound like dad,"
Cal shouldn't have said that, all she knew was that she wanted to make Dallas hurt the way she had all those years.
"What the fuck did you just say?"
At Dally's tone Darry made his way over to stand behind Cal while the rest of the gang gathered closer.
"All I'm saying is that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree," Cal said with a cruel smile.
Dallas turned away,"Shut the fuck up!" He yelled.
"You're just mad because you know I'm right," She sneered.
Fast as lighting Dally slapped Cal. The force of the slap sent her back and she fell against Darry's chest. He steadied her and held her up.
Everyone was frozen with shock. "And there it is," Cal said with savage triumph while holding her face "Chip right off the old block,"
Dallas was frozen with anger.
"Get out." Darry's voice was firm but soft. Dallas didn't move a muscle. "Get out!" Darry said, raising his voice.
After a heartbeat Dallas stormed out and slammed the door behind him.
Another bead of silence before Cal pushed of Darry and limped to the first floor bedroom. On her way she yanked the bottle of tequila off the table and slammed her door behind her.
Everyone looked at each other stunned by what had just happened.
