Chapter 7: Stipulation of slavery

Football was introduced to India by British soldiers in the mid 19th century. It spread due to the efforts taken by Nagendra Prasad Sarbadhikari in the year 1877. The Calcutta FC was the first club to be established in 1872.

Since the villages like Tulsipur and Krishna Nagar were underdeveloped, whether it was about backward mindset of people or about getting progressed with western cultures, they were neither much aware about the game nor they ever tried it. Anirudh was the only one who was well skilled with western culture and games as he was brought up in England and thus was trained in the game, so was Bondita, but since she was at the Britishers side, he was was left alone to train them all.

Agar jeet gaye toh Mandir bhi nahi tootega, jo aap ladkiyon ke liye vidyalay shuru karna chahte hai aur aapke aayurved ke davaaiyo ka vyaapar, dono ke liye permission bhi mil jaayegi." Uttered Bondita.

"Aur agar haar gaye toh mandir tootne ke saath hi Mr. Aneerud Roy Choudharee aur Ms. Kaleendi Das ko humara naukar... nahi nahi, Slavery yaani gulaami karni hogi." Said Philips leaving them in shock.

Trilochan and Somnath approached Anirudh and held his shoulder from behind. While Tupur and Chandrachur also came near Thakuma. "Soch lijiye, Agar challenge aap log jeete to jo aap chahte hai woh poora hoga" uttered Philips. "Aur agar haar gaye toh gulami ka patta pehenana hoga phir naa hi aap dono ka koi pariwaar hoga, naa hi koi barrister hoga aur naa hi koi vaid." uttered Bondita.

"Anirudh, yaad hai na Greenwood ke samay, uss waqt ladkiyon ko sirf padhana tha, iss baar cheeze kathin hai. Ye itna asaan nahi" Said Trilochan "You're right Mr. Roy Choudhary, par agar aap log jeet gaye toh main apne position se bhi resign kar lunga." Uttered Jacob to which Bondita and Philips looked at him in shock while he blinked at them in assurance. "Mukabla barabari ka hai toh uski saza bhi barabari ki hogi."

While Anirudh and Thakuma looked at each other and gave a nod. "Manzoor hai" uttered both of them.

"Sharth abhi poori kaha hui hai Barrister babu, saza sirf aap dono ke liye nahi hai. Pata hai Philly..." Bondita uttered walking towards Tupur and continued "Tupur ko na seva karne ka bohot shauk hai, bachpan mein Thakuma ki aur ab uske pati ki." Chandrachur was about to defend himself but she showed her palm indicating him to stop. "Toh Tupur, humare ghar ki naukarani banegi aur sabki seva karegi." Tupur looked up in shock.

Bondita moved towards Somnath "Dr. Somnath Roy Choudhary, kehne ke liye toh ye doctor hai par ye sabpe nazar rakhne mein bohot maahir hai. Kaun kab kaha dushman ghus aaye inke ilaake mein inhe sabse pehle pata chalta hai and he never leaves any stone unturned to punish them." He reminisces the time when he kidnapped Bondita just to fulfill the last ritual of making her mute by keeping the burning coal in her mouth. His trance broke when she continued "so, main ye keh rahi thi ye nazar rakhne mein kaafi maahir hai, toh inhe Fernsby mansion ka watchman banaya jaayega" "You!" He snapped but she quickly pointed her index finger and uttered "awaaz neeche." while he clenched his fist.

She went near Chandrachur and turned towards Jacob and asked "Uncle, you needed a driver right? Chandrachur babu se ache driver koi ho hi nahi sakte. Arrey inhe to shauk hai, driver banke sabko apni jagah pe drop karne ka. Chahe wo Thakuma ko har jagah le jaana ho ya Bondita ko kacheri mein drop karna." She smirked at him.

Moving towards Trilochan she uttered "humare yaha ke gardener ko dismiss kar diya tha na due to his negligence towards the work? Toh Kaka sasu... nahi nahi Zameendar Trilochan Roy Choudhary, humari bhi zameen sambhal lenge, yaani ki aap humare maali banenge." Hearing this, his hold on the stick tightened.

Anirudh was already fuming in anger by hearing all these, and spoke up "baat mere gulam hone tak theek hai par mere pariwaar ko beech mein laane ki koshish mat karo." "Haa, humare pariwaar ke liye khudki bali chadhayenge par unhe aane nahi denge" Thakuma uttered.

"Hume manzoor hai" all of them said except Chandrachur which went unnoticed by all. Both Anirudh and Thakuma looked behind and gave a satisfactory smile to their respective family members.

"Wait Suzie" Jacob came forward and uttered, "Don't you think iss competition mein girls ka bhi equal contribution hona chahiye and I don't think they will play soccer." "You're right dad, ab yaha ki saaree ladkiya Suzie toh nahi hai jo multitalented ho. Am I right dear?" Philips smirked saying this to which Bondita replied "Hundred percent. Suzie baaki ladkiyon ki tarah nahi hai, main piano bajati hu, tennis khelti hu, yaha tak ki ek trained soccer player bhi hu."

"Humare desh ki ladkiyon ko kam aankne ki galti mat kijiye Mrs. Suzie, agar icchha ho toh koi bhi kuch bhi kar sakta hai." Anirudh boldly uttered. "Aap icchha ki baat kar rahe hai Barrister Babu, agar ye, icchha se hi sab kuch hota, toh aapko ladkiyon ke liye alag vidyalay banane ki zaroorat hi nahi padti naa hi free education ka offer. Unhe padhne ki hi icchha nahi hai toh soccer ke maidaan mein kya hi aayenge." Said Bondita.

"Toh aaplogo ki ye problem ka bhi solution hai. Mr. Aneerud, aap girls ke liye education chahte hai right, toh aap logo ke taraf se 10 girls, 5 Tulsipur se and 5 Krishna Nagar se, ab dono gaon chahte hai mandir na toote toh dono mein barabar contribution hona chahiye na. Toh aap logo ki team ke 10 girls ka humare team ki 10 British girls ke saath intelligence test liya jaayega." Said Philips while Thakuma couldn't decipher his words properly so she confusingjly asked "kya kiya jaayega?" "Dimaagi kshamta ki pareeksha Thakuma. Ab aap log ladkiyon ko Soccer khelne ke toh nahi mana paayenge, toh humne aaplogo ka kaam thoda asaan kar diya aur isse ye bhi pata chal jaayega ki Barrister babu jo koshish kar rahe hai ladkiyon ke shiksha ka, woh sachme kisi kaam ka hai bhi ki nahi." Said Bondita.

"Manzoor hai hume" Uttered Anirudh, while she continued "Par Barrister babu, aap un ladkiyon ko nahi laa sakte jo aapke ghar mein rehti hai, woh toh pehle se hi padh rahi hai na, ab aap unke liye vidyalay shuru kar rahe hai jinhe kabhi padhne ka mauka hi na mila ho, toh competition mein bhi waisi ladkiyan honi chahiye na?"

Anirudh clearly understood thier intention as she knew it will be a really difficult task for getting such girls. Thakuma also knew it will be a difficult task although 2 girls are already there from her house but now had to get 3 more. But still they looked at each other and said "Manzoor hai."

"Okay then, toh rule ye hai ki girls ka compition pehle hoga. Aur agar aapki ladkiyaan jeet gayi, toh hi Soccer match hoga. Warna ladkiyon hi haar mein aap logo ka haar hoga. Yaani 7 din mein girls ka compition aur wo jeet gaye to uske 5 din mein boys ka Soccer match" Philips said with a smirk leaving everyone shocked.

Bondita moved forward and said "toh, challenge?" She forwarded her hand. Anirudh came forward and held her hand and said "Challenge accepted". Giving a shake hand looking straight at each other.

All these while, Chandrachur was although standing with them but his mind was occupied with some other plans.

"What are you upto Suzie?" Asked a confused Grayson when both the families and Rajiv left the ground.

"Hawa ka ruk badalna ho, toh jaise ke saath taisa. Ab hum aankh ke badle aankh aur khoon ke badle khoon denge." Philips held her shoulder from behind and gave her an assuring blink while Bondita continued "Unhone mujhe Sanyasini banana chaha, ab main unhe gulaam banaungi."

Anirudh who came back there to take his file was shocked to hear this from her. But little did he know that she was somewhat repeating the same words which was once uttered by him.
