"I have to get so many things done by tomorrow" Asami mumbled to herself, looking at the list of tasks on her phone. She was hunched over a bowl of cereal, which wasn't her ideal breakfast but she didn't have the time to make anything that required cooking. She finished her food quickly, placed her bowl in the sink and was just about to go out the door when she heard something.
"Babe?" Korra's tired, morning voice, startled her as the beautiful girl walked out of their bedroom and into full view. Korra was rubbing her eye. She was only wearing a baggy, light blue T-shirt which reached all the way to her knees, and Asami assumed she was also wearing her boxers but she couldn't know for sure.
"Hey my love, I was just about to leave for work, I have a really busy day today." Asami walked towards her girlfriend, and pulled her close by her waist. She gave her a kiss on the lips, filled it with as much love as she could. She knew that Korra never liked staying home alone so she tried to comfort her as best she could.
"It's okay, I actually have a lot to do today too" Korra said. Asami raised an eyebrow.
"Really? What do you have to do today? Any avatar stuff?"
Then Asami remembered. Today was the day Korra will be starting to train the new airbenders. Tenzin decided since there were so many, that he would give Korra and Jinora a group of their own, and the two girls had to teach them everything.
"Oh right! The airbenders!" Asami smacked her own forehead. "How could I forget?"
Korra smiled "it's okay, you're busy too" she reassured her, and gave her another small peck. "Now go to work and make the city a better place for all of us."
Asami smiled and gave Korra a hug before walking out the out the door.
As soon as the taller girl left the place, Korra's face fell. She had been incredibly stressed lately, with president Raiko being mad at her for causing what he calls 'a disturbance to the daily lives of the people in republic city' with the vines and the newly formed 'spirit wilds'.
Then there was also the pressure to deliver, so many people always stop her on the street, expecting her to do things for them.
At first Korra didn't have a problem with people asking her to help get their squirrelcats off of trees, or stopping thieves from taking their stuff, but after a while it became tiring.
Korra moved to republic city to live with her girlfriend, Asami. But seeing the avatar roam the streets gave the people the impression that they could stop her and ask for favors at any given time. It was draining for Korra and she didn't know how long she could keep up with it.
The main reason she didn't say anything, was Asami. She knew that Asami had her own stuff going on, and she knew that it wasn't fair to lay all of her problems on her girlfriend. She had to deal with the stress herself. So a day on air temple island sounded like a pretty relaxing day for her.
As it turns out, training a bunch of new airbenders was a challenging task on its own, and she also had to deal with the fact that they all wanted her attention, because she was The Avatar.
Korra spent the entire day avoiding air blasts sent her way by inexperienced benders, and explaining the techniques to them as calmly as she could.
By nightfall, Korra was grateful to go back to her and Asami's place. She was ready for anything, even listening to Asami rant about how stupid people at her work are, was better than trying to stay calm and encouraging while people kept blowing at her face all day.
She opened her glider and flew over the water and towards republic city. She ignored the calls and cheers from below, yelling about how the avatar is flying over them, until she finally landed on the roof of hers and Asami's house.
