Chapter 8

Chad's POV
Vancouver Arts Center

"Hey man!" I say to Dan as I walk into the dressing room before our concert.

"Hey." He says with a cold tone and I scoff.

"Why are you being like that to me, Daniel? Do you think I told Katie not to let Bethany near Kenzie?" I ask him and he gives me the 'of course I do' look.

"Well I didn't, it that's what you're thinking. Kenzie isn't my child, therefore I don't have a say in what Katie does with her, but I saw the handprint that Bethany left on Kenzie's face, and so did Ryan and Mike. Ryan is who said she shouldn't be around Kenzie, and Katie didn't fully agree but decided to limit contact with you guys since you refused to believe her. Bethany is toxic towards Katie all because Katie was in your life before she was." I say and he scoffs.

"She just tried to say her siblings weren't even my children because they didn't look like me." He says and I sigh.

"Daniel, she might be right. Look, you said when we first met in 2000 that all the kids you would have would be born premature, like Katie and Macy were. Patrick was 41 weeks even and Addy was 40 weeks and 3 days. Neither were premature. Katie also has that, as all her children will be born premature, like Kenzie was. Katie has no health issues besides what she inherited from you, but yet Patrick has high functioning autism and Addy has Asperger's. They both have green eyes when neither one you or Bethany have green eyes on your families, minus that Katie inherited Bailey's. Patrick has Blonde hair, like Xander and is a spitting image of him too. Addy has red hair but neither sides of her family do. Genetics are weird man, but with that many signs, you should be cautious and get DNA testing done between you and them. You basically did force Bailey into the paternity test back in 1993 when she told you, which is wrong man, especially when you didn't do the same to Bethany." I say and he sighs as he leaves the room.

After the concert and all that I'm able to get some sleep.

Katie's POV
Abbotsford

"I'm Beatrix Lowell from DCF, I'm here to observe your daughter, Makenzi." She says and I nod as I let her in and she smiles as Kenzie plays with the kitchen set from last Christmas.

"So, I have a few questions and some of these may be a bit personal, so please answer to the best of your ability." She says as we sit on the couch and I nod.

"Alright, so is her father in the picture at all?" She asks and I look down.

"Damien passed away just three months after she was born. The only Daddy she knows is Chad and he's on tour." I tell her and she nods as she writes it down.

"Okay, so how old were you when she was born?" She asks and I sigh.

"I was 15, Damien was 16. She just turned two and I'll be 19 soon." I say and she nods.
