"Kraken? You're royalty?!"

Essence stood, shocked, as Kraken's mind was filled with anger towards Tsunami. She knew it would happen, but it still fazed her to see it happen in real life. Kraken's mind rambled on in the background. Clearly this was meant to be a secret why couldn't you keep your big mouth shut stupid kelpface-

"Cave. Now." Kraken growled, storming toward the exit. Anger filled her like a raging ocean, and Essence stepped back as the Seawing heir rushed through the cave entrance.

"I'll just... head back to my cave as well," Ace said slowly, putting down a cow he was eating. What happened? Why is everyone so scared looking? I was just hungry...

"That's probably a good idea," Essence called over her shoulder as she broke into a run. She arrived in their cave to see Kraken sitting on her sleeping ledge, facing the wall. Her mind was filled with worry now, but the anger still persisted.

Kraken sighed and sat up, keeping her eyes on the ground. Essence knew this would be a long story. She sat across from the Seawing heir and motioned for Swellow to do the same.

"So you want to know why I didn't tell you I am royalty?" Kraken said.

"Yes," Essence answered solemnly. She felt excited, even though she already knew what her answer was. Beside her, Swellow stayed silent.

Kraken sighed again and she started to speak. " I didn't mention that I'm royalty because... because I hate it!

"Anemone, my mother, never lets me play with my cousins, never lets me do fun things, never lets me do anything if she thinks it's 'dangerous'. S-she thinks I'm weak, but I'm not!" Kraken's tail curled into a tight ball, and she started wringing her talons. Essence could feel her anger rising like boiling water. I hope nothing bad happens...

"And I don't want to be queen, I don't want all that responsibility! I want to live life to its fullest, not sit on the throne, and have to carry the weight of an entire tribe on my shoulders!" By this time, she was yelling. Essence looked over at Swellow and saw that she still wasn't moving at all. This wasn't turning out well.

"So... you came here to get away from your mother?" Essence interjected quickly. She didn't need Kraken to get more agitated. Or Swellow, for that matter...

"Yeah. I wanted to make some actual friends that weren't Tsunami or Auklet so I nagged Tsunami and Coral to let me go." Kraken took a deep breath. She was starting to calm down for sure. "Thanks for talking to me, I needed to get that off my chest, but can you please just promise me you won't tell anyone else?"

"Of course I won't," Essence said in response.

Kraken shot a glance at Swellow; she must have heard the commotion and decided to let curiosity get the better of her, but it was so quick Essence thought she imagined it. Essence gave Swellow a nudge.

Swellow's wings drooped. "Okay, I won't tell anyone. But you should have told me earlier."

A large bell from the hallway interrupted their conversation, followed by the sound of claws scraping on the rock.

"Well, I'll be heading to class." Essence said as she grabbed her things, "What class do you have?"

"I have that self-defense course that Clay teaches," Kraken said. " What class do you have next?"

"I have my mother's class." Essence said. She took a glance into the future to see what route she should take to class.

"And that would be?"

"It's a class for Nightwing powers, my mother teaches how to control them." Essence explained as she walked out of the cave.

It did not take long for Essence to reach the Nightwing classroom, and when she entered she saw Moonwatcher writing on a scroll, recording her visions. She didn't even lift her head up from her work.
