Chapter Ten - Hide and Seek

Foreseeing the attack, Essence narrowly dodged the knife.

"MOM RUN!" Essence screamed at her and Moon booked it out of the room, Essence right behind, all while the black SeaWing chased them. After a bit, they thought they lost her, so the two of them hid in a large closet.

"Essence what in the name of the rainforest is going on!?" Moon frantically asked, her normally calm and collected demeanor gone.

"I- its a long story, right now you need-" Essence stopped because she heard a thought, but her mother was wearing sky fire.

"DUCK!" Essence yelled as a knife stabbed through the doorand the black SeaWing shoved them both out. They both got up and ran for their lives.

She can go inbisible! Essence thought as she sprinted full force.

"MOM, GO GET CLAY!" Essence hollered as the SeaWing chased her. Moon diverted off the path without the SeaWing. The black menace caught up and stuck out her knife near Essence's face. But before the SeaWing could stab her, Scorpion came out of nowhere and slammed the SeaWing into the floor. Essence stopped to look behind at the squirming SeaWing. Scorpion was roaring in her face, holding her down by her wings. The SeaWing slashed Scorpion across his snout, causing blood to well up. She got back on her feet and she ran towards Essence, knife held once again. But before she could stab Essence, a fire ball streaked across the hall and hit the seawing on its side. Essence turned to see, Tundra, Ace, Kraken, and Swellow with her new sword drawn.

The Seawing got up, unphased by the fire ball that hit her, and seeing how she was out-numbered, she went invisible, though her dagger was still visible, and she ran.

"Eve," Kraken growled.

"Split up!" Scorpion said as he got up, shaking off the blood on his snout like it was nothing. "Essence, Kraken, and I will go find her. Swellow, Ace, Tundra, go get Turtle!"

Essence, Scorpion, and Kraken began hunting for Eve, with random thoughts leading them along her trail, which led them to the underground lake in the Jade Mountain. 

"So you're the NightWing my master is so interested in," a slithering voice whispered in their ears.

"Show yourself coward!" Scorpion yelled.

"Ah Scorpion, always ready to jump into a fight," the voice challenged.

"How do you know his name?" Kraken asked as she looked around trying to find were the voice was coming from.

"I know more about you then you know about each other," the voice said from another direction, she was circling them! "Scorpion, a street rat abandoned after his mother scared him, and left him to die."

"Enough games Eve!" Scorpion shouted. Essence could sense a new emotion in him."Who are you working for?!"

"Sadly, only one of you will live long enough to find out." Suddenly Eve's glinting eyes popped out of the darkness and a knife came with them. It almost stabbed Scorpion, but forseeing this, Essence shot a fireball hitting Eve and knocking her off of the overhang of rocks. Scorpion got up, jumping Eve and clawing away at her, as Kraken sprinted in to help. As Scorpion and Eve fought, Essence looked on and wanted to help by peering into the future to warn Scorpion and Kraken, but nothing came. Eventually Eve went invisible and ran, with the three dragons chasing her. Essence was alone, but Swellow appeared out of nowhere. She almost sighed with relief, but Essence realized that her sword was missing. She clawed at Eve's disguise with many shouts until it went away, and black bled through the bright colors. She looked for Eve's dagger, trying to dodge her. As she did this, the real Swellow and Tundra arrived as Essence was slammed into the wall. Essence let out a shriek of pain, and Swellow ran toward Eve.
