Dad and I sit in the same restaurant that we went to for my eighteenth birthday- when this whole Iron Man, agent of S.H.I.E.L.D thing began. Pepper's away on business and I'm leaving for D.C tomorrow, plus we don't actually have a kitchen to cook in, or a dining room to eat in- or a house, so... We decided to leave the hotel suite that we've been living out of a week and venture into a restaurant for our final dinner before I leave.
We sit in comfortable silence and I can't help but think back to Switzerland once again, "Whatever did happen to Anya and Julia?" I ask.
Dad raises an eyebrow, "You don't remember?"
"Remember what?"
"Julia rocked up to our place at like three am one morning, balling her eyes out. I let her sleep in one of the guest rooms and she was begging me not to tell her Dad that she was there. Being a responsible adult, I called him and the next morning he came to pick her up. The second she heard the door open, she tried to run off but I managed to stop her. Then she started screaming about how he promised he'd protect her and how he never cared about her. She was rambling about somebody taking her and hurting her, then they both left and we never saw any of them again. Just like that."
"Oh..." I glance off at the ocean, "That sounds... odd."
"Well, it was weird, but it was also eleven years ago, so I wouldn't stress about it." he tells me.
"Yeah, it's been eleven years and none of them have reached out to us. Seriously, Nick and Anna were your best friends and Anya, Julia, and I spent pretty much everyday together. They wouldn't just up and leave without a reason." I argue.
He places his hand on top of mine, "Munchkin, I know you're a lot bigger on caring than I am. I don't know where they are or what they're doing, but I'm sure they're fine."
If only I'd known just how wrong he was...
out now...
