Rose Hill, Tenessee

I'm cold. God, I'm so cold. And everything's dark and-

"Lia?", a desperate voice calls out, though I can't see anything, "Aurelia?". I hear footsteps crunching through what sounds like snow; I let out a quiet groan and the footsteps seem to speed up, growing closer. "Oh my god, you're here. Thank god.", they gasp out and I realize it's Dad. He places his hands on my shoulders and shakes me slightly, "Wake up."

My eyelids feel like they weigh ten tonnes, but I blink and begin to open them. I'm met by a dark night sky, "Where are we?", I mumble, "Am I dead?"

"We're in... uh... Tenessee.", he admits.

A sudden burst of energy coming over me, I snap my head around to face him, "Tenessee? That's nowhere near Malibu!", I begin internally panicking, "So, Pepper's in Malibu by herself? And she probably thinks we're dead. Oh, sweet Jesus."

"Yeah, I get it. Big issue. But can we please go into panic mode when we're not in the middle of a snowy forest?", he asks.

"Good idea."

Eventually, we manage to haul both ourselves and the dysfunctional Iron Man suit to a nearby gas station. Though the gas station itself is closed, there are two mannequins of native Americans outside, from which we steal the ponchos off.

We both squish into a telephone booth and Dad inputs a number, "Stark Secure Server: Now transferring to all known receivers.", an automated voice says.

"Pepper, it's me. Aria's with me, she's safe. Well, as safe as she can be right now.", he sighs, "I've got a lot of apologies to make and not a lot of time. So first off, I'm so sorry I put you and Aria in harm's way. That was selfish and stupid and it won't happen again. Also, it's Christmas time, the rabbit's too big. Done. Sorry. And I'm sorry in advance because... I can't come home yet. I need to find this guy. You gotta stay safe. That's all I know. We just stole ponchos from wooden Indians."
