"Where did Captain America learn how to steal a car?" Nat asks from the back seat, with her legs propped up less than gracefully on the backs of our chairs.

"Nazi Germany." he glances back in the rear-view mirror, "And we're borrowing. Take your feet off the seats."

Silence lingers in the air for a few minutes, until I glance at Steve, "Did you mean what you said to that guy in the store?"

He nods, sure of himself, "Yes. Every word of it." he takes one hand off the wheel and places it on mine, "The other night, I never said I didn't want kids or marriage or a family or... any of that. I've never cared about anyone like I do you. Not in all ninety years of my existence. You just freaked me out, I wasn't prepared for that talk. If I were to have a family one day, there's nobody I'd rather go through any of it with."

"Yeah, I mean maybe we should wait until we're not on the run from the government or whatever." I smile at him.

He chuckles, "You know, Aria, I do l-"

My breath hitches at the words I've yearned to hear him say since the day I met him.

"Get a room already." Nat, who I'd forgotten was in the car, butts in, blowing a loud raspberry, "Ooh! I have a question for you." she leans forward and places a hand on each of our shoulders, "Both of you. Which you do not have to answer. I feel like, if you don't answer it though, you're kind of answering it, you know."

"What?" he asks impatiently.

"Is Aria the only relationship you've ever been in?" she asks with a grin.

"I'm doing that bad, huh?" he raises an eyebrow.

"I didn't say that."

"Well, it kind of sounds like that's what you're saying." his tone is annoyed but a slight smirk plays on his lips.
