As Julia and I sit on the bed in comfortable silence, a knock sounds at the door and it slides open. Steve steps in seemingly nervously and just stares at the two of us sitting on the bed for a while. Confused, Julia glances at me when he doesn't speak and I just shrug.

"Hiya." I say, giving him a somewhat patronizing smile.

"Hey, uh..." he looks at me, "There's someone you might want to see."

Minutes later, we walk into a gloomy-looking meeting room with a round table and no windows, just as with every room in this place. I scan the faces in there: Natasha Romanoff, Sam Wilson, Maria Hill, and...

No...

No, I saw him...

I watched him die.

My heart leaps to my throat and my lips part in shock and confusion.

"Stark." he acknowledges with a cocky smirk playing on his lips.

"Am I hallucinating..." is the first thing I can think to say, "You died. I saw you get shot. I saw the doctors declare you dead."

"I already explained that to these guys, don't make me do the same with you. We have more important things to discuss." he declares.

"Still down to business as ever, Fury, I see." I scoff with a roll of my eyes, slumping down in one of the rickety metal chairs.

He eyes Julia suspiciously, "You sure we can trust her?"

"She wouldn't be here if I wasn't," I state, crossing my arms over my chest.

"I'm sorry for, you know... trying to kill you," she says awkwardly.

"If you can help us out here, it never happened," he tells her.
