I Miss You

Being away from the people you love is horrible. Especially when it's the person who you wake up to every day; the person who makes you smile just from saying hi; the person who brings you juju just to make you feel better when you have a hard day; the person who stays awake the whole night taking care of you when you're sick; the person who listens to your favorite songs even if she doesn't like it; the person who watches you favorite movies and doesn't complaint about it; the person who makes you happier than you've ever felt in your whole life.

Addison smiled when she saw Meredith's name coming up on display on her phone.

'' Hey Mer '' She greeted.

'' Hey Addie '' Meredith replied softly. ''I miss you already.'' She whined.

Addison laughed and then said, ''I miss you too, Darling.''.

''Are you there yet?'' Meredith asked.

''Yes. I just got here. LA is beautiful.'' Addison said.

''Yeah, I bet. When are you coming back?'' Meredith asked.

''Well, Naomi said the case was urgent, that the mother had had some big complications. So, I'm not sure.'' Addison replied.

Addison was in LA, because an old friend had called and asked for her help in a case. She had talked to Richard and then taken a few days off.

''Ok... just don't take long... I miss you.'' Meredith said quietly.

''I miss you too.'' Addison whispered back, and then she heard a pager biping on the other side of the call.

''I have to go.'' Meredith sighed.

''Ok... Go save lives.''

''Ok... oh! Cristina asked me to tell you that, if you're not back in time for the wedding, she is gonna kill you when you get back.'' Meredith said chuckling.

''Ok.'' Addison laughed and shook her head. Cristina had become a really good friend of hers since Meredith and her got closer.

''Bye. I love you.''

''Bye. I love you too.''

She put her phone back inside her purse and entered the building, where her friend Naomi had a private practice. It turns out the case went smoothly, the baby and the mother turned out ok. Everyone at the clinic was super polite and nice, there was one doctor who was extra nice towards Addison, flirting and all, but she made it clear she had a girlfriend she loves very much. LA was as beautiful as when she arrived 2 days ago, but she wanted Meredith there to enjoy it with her. She missed her like crazy.

''You're leaving?'' Naomi sat on the chair opposite Addison in the café, not far from the clinic.

''Yes. I have patients.'' Addison replied, taking a sip of her coffee.

''Right, patients.'' Naomi had a huge smirk on her face.

''Yes. Patients.'' Addison laughed.

''So, your girlfriend has nothing to do with it?'' Naomi asked, smirking even more.

''Well...''

Naomi laughed and shook her head. It's been a long time since she's seen a bright light of happiness in Addison's eyes. She knew that the end of Derek and Addison's marriage was not only Addison's fault. Derek had been neglecting her for a really long time, before she slept with Mark. She was really happy to see her friend like this again. Happiness looked good in Addison Montgomery.

''So, I would be wasting my time here if I offered you a job, right?'' Naomi asked smiling.

''What?'' Addison eyes went wide when she heard that. 

''Well, we could really use someone like you at the clinic. It pays very well, and LA is beautiful.'' Naomi said casually.

''Nai, I... I have a job.''

''I know. But here the work is less stressful, and we could pay you more than at the hospital.''

''Naomi...'' Addison sighed. ''I can't... I can't just up and leave. I made a life there.''

''Right, of course... the girlfriend.''

''Yes. No. Look, it's complicated.'' Addison stammered.

''Right. You mean dating your ex-husband ex-mistress?'' Naomi chuckled.

''I'm in love with her.'' Addison whispered softly.

'' Oh '' Naomi looked at her friend and took her in,  she could see it. The love. ''Does she love you back?''

'' Yes '' Addison breathed and smiled.

''Ok... Bring her too, then.'' Naomi shrugged.

''What?'' Addison's eyes once again went wide. Yep, Naomi was on a roll today. 

''You said Derek has been a pain in the ass because of you two, and that makes you uncomfortable. You said that you loved LA. And I can offer you a job that will pay you handsomely and with less stress.'' Naomi explained. ''I'm sure Meredith can do her residency here, there are lots of amazing hospitals in LA, and if she's as good as you say she is, they'll be happy to accept her.''

''She is.'' Addison said.

''You need a change of scenery, Addison. With all you told me, I think you and Meredith deserve it.''

''I... I don't know... I can't ask Meredith to leave her whole life in Seattle for me.'' Addison said, shaking her head. She couldn't. She couldn't ask that of Meredith.

''Well... Talk to her, see what she thinks. I'll even help get her the job, I know a few people.'' Naomi mentioned casually, taking a sip of her coffee.

-Damn it Naomi. I was ok with how things were. Now, you come and fill my head with this- Addison thought with a sigh.
