First days are always good. At least for Cristina Yang. Being now a resident had it's perks, she was sure of it, she just had to find them out. She wasn't completely over the whole being left at the altar thing, but she was trying. She had to move on with her life.

"Doctor Yang." She heard someone call her name while she was looking through exams. She turned, only to see someone she really didn't want to.

"Doctor Shepherd." She greeted professionally.

"Umm, I umm." He stammered.

"Yes." She prompt, raising a perfect eyebrow.

"umm... Preston he... he asked me to tell you that... he's sorry, but he had to leave, he couldn't stay. He couldn't keep working here. That leaving, it's for the best." He said.

Cristina stayed silent, not one word left her mouth. When she had processed what he had told her, she only offered him a small nod before turning back to exam her patients' tests results.

Derek, knowing he had done what he had promised, made his way to the door, only to stop and ask a question that has been bugging him the whole day.

"Doctor Yang?"

"Hmm?" Cristina replied absently. She wasn't really paying attention to him anymore.

"Where's Meredith?" He asked.

"Oh... you don't know?" That made Cristina turn to him. She was excited to see the look on his face when he finds out.

"Know what?... knows what, Cristina?"

God, she wished she could take a picture of his face. IT. WAS. GOING. TO. BE. EPIC. She was sure Addison would love to see it, but unfortunately she wasn't there. She was far, far away.

Addison found out she really loved the weather in LA, it was always good. No rain or storms. She loved feeling the breeze of the ocean on her skin, it made her feel good. She smiled and closed her eyes, turning her face up to the sky and socking up the heat of the sun.

"You know that's creepy, right?" She asked, her eyes still closed.

"What? Me watching my beautiful girlfriend?" Meredith replied, making her way out into the balcony. She hugged Addison from behind and rested her head on her shoulder.

"It's early Addie... Come back to bed." Meredith whined, tucking her head in the back of Addison's neck.

Addison turned in her embrace, she raised her hands to Meredith's face, and started to map out every trace of it. She could only remember the day that Meredith came back early from her trip with Cristina, and changed their lives for good.

"What are you doing here?" Addison asked surprised when she opened the door of her hotel room.

"I came back."

"Oh... where's Cristina?" Addison asked, letting Meredith in.

"She's still in Hawaii... I came back alone." Meredith said, taking a sit on the bed.

" Oh "

"You see, here is the thing. I love you. I love you like I've never loved anyone before... not even Derek." Meredith replied softly.

"Ok." Addison frowned.

"And I wanna spend the rest of my life with you."

"Meredith-" Addison tried to speak, but Meredith wasn't finished.

"No Addie. Just... just listen, ok?... seeing Cristina like that after losing Burke, it broke my heart. She is one of the strongest person I know, and if she reacted like that from losing the love of her life... I don't know what I would do if I lost you." Meredith took a deep breath and continued, "I can't lose you, Addie. I can't live without you. So... accept the job. I'll go to LA with you.".

Addison was shocked, she did not see that coming. "Mer, I can't ask you to leave your whole life because of me."

"You're not. This is my decision..." Meredith stood up and made her way to Addison. "I know that being here is hurting you. I don't like to see you hurt."

Meredith started to map out with her finger every part of Addison's face. "I want us to live a happy life together, and I know that as long as we stay here, we won't. Too much history... and people." She said quietly.

"Mer... are you sure? Are you completely sure this is what you want?" Addison needed confirmation. She needed to be certain that Meredith wouldn't regret it later.

"I am. I love you and I want this."

So in this balcony in sunny LA, Addison cupped Meredith's cheek and stroked it softly. "When I went to Seattle, I had a plan. Go there, get my husband back and go back to New York... but things change, plans change... my husband didn't love me anymore and with time I found out I didn't love him anymore either... and then everything changed again and I had to adapt to it... I don't know when or how, but I started to move on. Raise myself back up. Make a life where I was just Addison, not Derek's wife Addison... I never planned to get close to you Mer. I never intended to get close to my ex-husband ex-girlfriend... but you with your pretty ocean eyes, beautiful face and terrible dark sense of humor, captivated me... and with every passing second the desire to get to know you, to spend time with you, to be your friend only grew more and more..." She ran a finger softly on Meredith's bottom lip and then continued, "Until being your friend wasn't enough anymore and all I could think about was kissing you, touching you, hearing you moan my name... until all I wanted was to be yours. And to be able to call you mine. My Meredith. My Mer. My love... I love you Meredith Grey and I want to spend the rest of my life by your side. I'm completely and utterly yours, now and forever." Addison smiled at Meredith as if she held the moon and the stars.

Meredith was speechless, she didn't risk opening her mouth because she knew nothing could compare even the slightest to Addison's declaration, so she chose to show her how much she loved her. She kissed her. But this was different. They'd had rough kiss, slow kiss, passionate kiss, soft kiss, all kinds of kisses. But Meredith and Addison were sure that if magic existed, this one would be a true love's kiss. This was just the beginning of their happily ever after.
