Changing, Adapting & Moving on

Welcome back

First day back since the surgery, first day back to normal. But like always, the day could not be easy.

Meredith was coming down the stairs when she saw him, she was about to turn away when he called for her.

'' Meredith ''

''Doctor Shepherd.'' She said politely.

''You're back.'' Derek smiled sweetly at her.

''I am.'' Meredith replied professionally.

''You look, uh, good with no appendix. It suits you.'' He said.

''Yeah.'' She nodded and tried to by-pass him to leave, but he didn't let her.

''How are you feeling? No pain, I hope.'' Derek said smiling.

Meredith sighed and answered, ''Nope. No pain. I'm great.''. She really didn't want to be here, so she was very thankful when her pager beeped. ''I have to go. Bye Doctor Shepherd.''

She left and made her way to find her attending for the day, which was Addison; and that made her very happy. Addison had visited her a few times when she was home recuperating and they had a nice time together, sharing funny stories about their past.

''Hi. I was paged by Doctor Montgomery-Shepherd.'' She said to a nurse.

''Doctor Grey. Welcome back.'' Addison said, coming towards her with a smile on her face.

''Thanks.''

''Oh and uh, It's just Montgomery now.'' Addison said.

''What?''

''My name. The divorce was finalized this morning.'' Addison replied.

'' Oh ''

''Yeah. now C'mon, we have work to do.'' And with that, their day started.

By the end of it, Meredith could with all certainty say that her day was pretty bizarre. She worked on a case where two exes got stuck together during sex. Yep. Pretty awkward for her and Addison, but nothing they couldn't handle. She did have to avoid Derek a bit, but when they had to talk to each other she kept herself professional. Addison didn't have such luck, however. She had to tell Derek the truth about her and Mark, but other than that her day was good.

''Leaving already?'' Mark asked Addison at the entrance of the hospital.

''Yes.'' Addison replied, fixing her coat.

''Wanna grab a drink?'' Mark asked with a huge grin.

Ok, so there was still time for her to ruin her day. Ruin it doing something stupid like sleeping with Mark. But whatever deities, gods, or higher beings that exist out there, this moment, this day, they looked out for her.

'' Addison '' Meredith called her name, walking towards her.

'' Hey '' Addison said with a smile.

''Wanna go get something to eat? I could use some pizza.'' Meredith asked with a huge grin.

Addison laughed and said, ''You eat like a child.... yeah, sure. I'd love some pizza.'' She turned to Mark and said, ''Sorry Mark, maybe another time.''.

And with that, Meredith and Addison took their leave... This friendship so far was doing wonders for them.
