Life can't be easy for one second, Addison had barely gotten off the plane, when her phone rang.
''She's dead.'' That's the first thing Meredith said, when Addison answered the phone.
''What? Who's dead?'' Addison asked worried. But Meredith didn't respond, she was quiet. ''Mer, what happened? Who's dead?'' She pushed softly.
''Susan.''
That was a day ago. Meredith was ready to go to the funeral, but her father came to the hospital a few hours ago and caused a scene, said some hurtful things to her. Addison thankfully was there to comfort her.
Meredith now was trying to focus on her intern's exam. It was hard, her father's words replaying over and over in her head. She couldn't do it. She put the pencil down and just stared at the wall. When the guy said time was up, she stood up and left the room without saying a word.
Cristina went to Addison and told her what had happened. If anyone could make Meredith fell better, it was Addison. Addison found her in the interns' spot, sitting on a gurney.
"Get up." Addison said, walking in Meredith's direction.
Meredith looked up and frowned. "What?"
"I said get up." Addison stopped with her hands on her hips.
" Addie "
"No. You are not gonna throw away all your hard work because of Tatcher... Get up." Addison said angrily.
" I killed her " Meredith whimpered brokenly. She had tears in her eyes.
" Oh Mer " Addison softened after hearing Meredith. "No, darling. It wasn't your fault. You're a doctor, we help people, but sometimes we just can't."
"Maybe if I-" Meredith tried, but Addison didn't let her continue.
"No! You listen to me right now Meredith Grey. This is NOT your fault. You did NOT kill her. What happened could have happened to anyone. This was not your fault."
Meredith couldn't hold back anymore, she started to cry. Addison hugged her and rubbed her back until she stopped sobbing. But they didn't pull away from each other's embrace.
" Thank you " Meredith mumbled, her face tucked in Addison's neck.
"Don't thank me yet." Addison said, pulling away and making Meredith stand up. "C'mon.".
They made their way to a meeting room. There they encountered Richard who gave Meredith a chance to redo the test. Addison along with her friends waited for her to finish, after that they all made their way to Meredith's house. What they didn't know was that the night was far from over.
"Who's that?" Addison asked, when there was a knock on the door. They were all sitting in Meredith's living room, drinking and eating.
"Don't know." Meredith shrugged.
When Izzie got up to answer the door, Cristina's phone rang.
" Hey " Cristina said to whom ever was on the other side of the call.
All of a sudden, Derek Shepherd entered the living room, with a very angry Izzie behind. "Doctor Shepherd, you can't just enter someone's house without permission." Izzie said.
"Yeah. He's already here. Thanks, Preston." Cristina said to her fiancé and then rang up.
"Meredith, I need to speak to you." Derek said, once he saw Meredith on the couch. Everyone could see he was pretty drunk.
"What are you doing here Derek?" Meredith asked, not even bothering to stand up.
"We need to talk." He said, throwing angry glares at Addison, who was sitting by Meredith's side.
