ONE YEAR LATER
JAYDEN'S POV
"I'll really miss the three of you." I say looking down at the three graves belonging to Jakob, Lillian and Leonardo Williams. "I didn't know that I could feel at peace after your death but in a way, you leaving me brought Jada to me." I say as I sit infront of the middle grave, Leo's. It had been my mother's idea to leave the space in between and at the time I disagreed thinking how it was selfish to think that Leo would occupy that space someday.
"You already met Clarissa Louisa Williams, my daughter." I say with a smile as I think of my daughter. She has my white blonde hair and blue eyes but Jada's facial features. She's beautiful. "And my son Ryan Costa Williams. They are the best kids anyone would wish for guys." I say just as I hear Ryan shouting for me. I immediately smile and get up.
"Time for me to leave." I pat my trouser to rid off any dust. "I'll be back." I promise before turning and walking towards Ryan who runs to me with something in his hand. "What's that?" I ask curiously and he opens his hand but nothing's there and I try holding in my laugh.
"I caught a firefly. It was in here." He says pouting making me chuckle.
"It's getting late. Your mum and sister are waiting." I say looking around. It's getting dark.
"But I want to show Clarissa a firefly. She's been crying a lot today morning."
"How about we sing for her when we go back?"
"You think that will cheer her up?"
"It always has." I shrug. Our conversation continues as we walk until we arrive to our house where my wife and daughter are.
"Can we have a dog mummy?" Ryan asks during dinner and Jada pauses her hand holding Clarissa's food for a second before continuing.
"We could but we're always out of the house honey. The dog will be so lonely and will want to escape." Jada answers making me cough as I try holding in my laugh and she glares at me. "And besides, your dad is afraid of dogs." She says still glaring.
Ryan turns to me with his eyes wide open in disbelief. "You're afraid of dogs? Shut up!" He shouts as he laughs and I groan.
"I have a bad history with them but I'm not scared." I say leaning back on my chair as I flex my arms.
"Really? So if I brought a dog here, you won't be scared?" Jada asks challengingly making me scoff.
"It's just a dog." I say mockingly as Jada lets out a smile.
**************
"I think I'll wait inside the car." I shout when everyone's out but Jada turns with a mocking smile.
"Are you afraid baby?" She taunts as Ryan laughs. I hate dogs. I really do. I get out of the car and shut the door with a little more force than required and walk to my family.
"I'll hold Risa." I say gesturing for my daughter. Jada looks at Ryan whose looking at the dogs excitedly before turning to me.
"You don't have to prove anything to me Jayden. We could leave and explain to Ryan why we can't have a dog." She says and I can see her eyes filled with worry.
"You're strong. Having a certain phobia won't change that." She says making me let out a breath. Her fingers move to the bullet scar on the side of my head for a few seconds.
" I love you."
" And I love you." She replies making me smile as always. "Now let's get out of here. I'm not a dog person." She says making me let out a laugh.
"Ryan. Come let's go somewhere else cooler." I say and Ryan follows me as he pouts making me laugh.
"But I want a dog."
"How about when you get older?" I ask and he thinks for a minute.
"We're never getting a dog, right dad?" He asks as Jada laughs and I agree.
