Negotiations

Your parents had returned from their vacation and told you and S/N since they were happy with their trip, they contacted the school and said you guys could have a day off. You were sitting in your room, reading a book about history.

The book showed descriptions of how the mages of olden times fought with monsters before the great war that ended countless monster lives. It showed stories of humans killing other humans along with monsters to gain more power.

Parts of the book were unreadable and scratched out. This book was older than you could imagine, and it has been worn down by time.

The more you read, the more you felt entranced by the book. Almost as if something was beckoning for you to read more. You read up until the book stopped at a page in a unidentified language. You put your hand on the words as your soul appeared.

You: Woah! What the!

You were so startled by this that you had fallen off of your bed and hit your head on the floor.

Dad: You okay son?

Your dad opened the door and saw you rub your head in pain.

You: Yep, just uhh... Tripped. Just tripped is all.

Dad: Are you sure?

You: Yep. Positive.

Dad: Alright. Just be careful.

You: I will. (That was close... What the hell even happened?)

You got up and sat back down on your bed. When you went to the book again, you flipped the page to the part that startled you. To your surprise, the entire page was blank.

You: What the? Where are the words?

You flipped through page after page to no avail. You closed the book and put it under your bed. You walked out of your room and went downstairs.

Mom: Y/N, could I talk to you for a second?

You: Um. Alright.

You sat down with your mother on the couch.

Mom: I know what you and S/N did.

You: What are you talking about? (Did she find out about the monsters? Hopefully not..)

Mom: And all I have to say is be careful. The woods around here are pretty dangerous. I just want to make sure you and your sister don't get into trouble or get kidnapped.

You: We won't. (Okay, that was close.)

Mom: I do wish you'd tell your mother before you go exploring but I guess it can't be helped. You might run into "monsters" if you're not careful.

You and your mom share a hearty laugh as you felt relieved.

Mom: Oh, and one more thing. Keep on eye out on your new friend. Make sure she doesn't get you two in trouble.

You: I'll make sure she doesn't.

Mom: Anyway, that's about all I needed to say. Oh and-

A phone seemed to interrupt your mother from speaking. Your mother went to pick up the phone as her face turned from happy, to serious and slightly worried.

 Mom: Hello? Uh huh. Yes I'm at home right now. Well they've been exploring the forest nearby. No... At least I don't think they are. You're welcome? I'm on my way.

Your mom hangs up the phone and grabs her jacket.

You: Work call? 

Mom: Sadly, yes.
