Being stuck in prison was not something Percy had wanted to do again. He could sense Nico's uneasiness, and said, "Could you get us out?"
"No!" Nico shouted, then shrunk into a corner. The others couldn't be bothered with him, instead trying to break out of the cell. Wolf and Frank had dropped their shoulders low and were slamming their bodies against the metal confining their group. Cinder, Hazel and Piper were searching the room for any vents, and Annabeth was sitting on the only available bed thinking.
The fact that the room was small and enclosed wasn't helping. And that many of them had ADHD. And he was starting to get moldy. And-wow! Was that cake??
Focus, he scolded himself.
Percy leaned forward, smiling a little. "Why not?"
Nico scowled, but didn't answer. His face seemed paler than usual, and his hair darker. He had a glint in his eye that Percy did not necessarily like.
Percy didn't trust people who......glinted. (A/N, read that word like you'd read 'rubbish on my bed!' Or 'peed in her underpants??' The italicized one.)
"I'm tired, okay? All these things are driving me crazy. Can you imagine how much energy it takes to on the moon, which the sun practically shines on all the time? There are literally no shadows here for me to travel to, so how can you expect me to shadow travel?" Nico's breaths came out heavy after his outburst, and Percy had no idea what to say.
Pity him? Or agree with him? Or ask Annabeth?
Both were similar, but before Percy could decide on either, Annabeth yelled for him. Both an answer for him and his name. (The answer had been: "We might be on the dark side of the moon, Nico, but ignore that. Percy needs some facts checked.")
Percy sent Nico an apologetic smile (which the boy didn't see, for his head was buried in his arms) and made his way over to Annabeth. She was staring at the space before her, frowning and speaking.
Percy thought that she had gone mental, but wisely chose not to say so.
She spotted him out of a corner of her eyes, gesturing him over with a wave of her hand and a friendly smile. He sat beside her, smiling.
Then, the air in front of him started speaking.
"So now I can't change back. I need the West Wind to help me."
It was Jason.
Percy started sniggering at Jason's patheticness until Annabeth shut him up.
"Perce can you change form?"
"Change form?" he asked, confused. "Oh you mean like Jason? Noooo. I don't want to be stuck as water forever! It's one thing to control water, and another to be water. Like Annabeth--"
But Annabeth wasn't having any of it, no she wasn't. She grabbed Percy's hand, arching a brow.
He pulled a face. "Okay, I'll try."
Annabeth smiled. "Thanks, Seaweed Brain."
"No problem..." he muttered. "Now how do I turn into water?"
Jason quickly explained how it worked, rambling something about depending on his imagination and his determination. He also said something about Annabeth's intimidating face that made you change state.
Percy completely got that last point.
* * * LINE BREAKS ___ ____
\_____/(LINE REPAIRS! MAGICALLY!)There was a huge commotion from the bars, Nico observed, peeking at the crowd. He was hesitant to get up, but did so after a few minutes, shuffling over to his friends.
It was funny how traitorous friends could be.
No, he would call them acquaintances.
From what Nico could see, there was a puddle of sea-green water that was sliding it's way under the cell bars. He frowned. Is that Percy? he wondered, then shook off the nagging feeling that something bad was about to happen.
He'd rather entertain himself by watching a puddle on the ground.
Everyone was cheering Percy on (after Jason's apparent failure), until everything erupted into chaos. There were footsteps, flashing lights, green smoke, screams of pain, the cell door unlocking, everyone streaming out, Jason shouted orders in his air-form and Nico could distinctly hear his name being called out. No, he shook his head, smiling at himself for having stupid thoughts. But he turned around anyway, checking. There was no one behind them. He scowled at his own stupidity, then ran after the others. They were saved.
The Stoll brothers had arrived.
The group ran down the halls like a bad flash mob after being freed, completely 'in-sync' without making any noises. They ran and ran until Annabeth stopped dead in her tracks, causing everyone to smash into her back. (Like dominos or something.) She turned around gravely. "We left Percy behind."
* * *
Percy was a puddle of water. He was heroic. He was unstoppable! He was going to save everyon--Percy was stepped on. Repeatedly. In a matter of chaotic seconds, more than two pairs of feet had stepped on his eyes, feet and hands.
To be fair, he couldn't feel any pain seeing how his nerve system was numbed. Percy could feel his body splitting apart, his eye splashing somewhere to his right, his ear further down, toes up on the ceiling and his organs spread all over (except for his lungs. Those evaporated).
It was surprising that Percy was still alive. No, it was amusing that he hadn't had a heart attack (it got stepped on as well).
So Percy did the logical thing when you get stepped on. He screamed. From what he could see, which was a lot since his eyes were well spread out, he saw neon green lights flashing about, and a figure throwing some ball onto the ground.
Green smoke. A stink bomb.
Percy wondered for a bit if he could still smell things when his lungs weren't there, but started screaming as the giant stink bomb ball rolled onto whatever was left of his face.
It stayed there, and Percy screamed louder still (his mouth had fallen into the cell, so everyone heard him and assumed it was one of the girls). Though Percy had to admit, his scream sounded awesome. Manly, even. Not girly at all. Not even a little bit.
"Down the left hall, then go right and--take the map, Annabeth. I can't be bothered," Travis snorted, flinging some paper at Annabeth. She read through it quickly, then took off running with the others close behind her. They were too quick for Percy's eyes to register, and all he could see was Nico running last. He called out for the boy, but as his mouth was still in the cell, it came out pretty soft.
Curse being water!
Percy wiggled about, trying to get Nico's attention as he turned around, checking to see who had called for him. But the boy just scowled and ran after the others.
Percy had never felt so hopeless in his life.

And *ahem*. This (I mean the A/N) was updated forever ago, but it was unpublished because I didn't read Jaime's chapter properly and made a mistake...
So here I am editing.

Oh well,

p.s: I apologize for the lack of updates. Three months! I mean what's wrong with me? And can you believe Jaime said that my writing style was like the one in Wonderland... crazy-ish. Pshh, nonsense! Right?
