Erin's POV
"Oh hey, lovebirds." My mom greeted as she opened the door. "Come in, come in!" She added and escorted us to the living room.
Blake and I followed after her. "What was the surprise about Mom?" I asked her. I was a little worried because everytime she talks about surprises, it was about things that were rather weird or awkward. Let's just say that my Mom was the master of fail surprises.
She glanced at me and answered. "Well, Derek's got a surprise. I was just the messenger." She chuckled and I breathed a sigh of relief. Atleast Derek has a better sense in surprises.
As we entered the living room, Derek and Issy were already there along with Dad. "Honey!" My dad exclaimed and rushed towards me. "I've missed you." He muttered and enclosed me in a tight hug.
I hugged him back and whispered in his ear. "Missed you too Daddy." It was really good seeing my dad again. Him and my mom has been away for too long. I pulled away from his hug and turned back to Blake. "Oh daddy, this is Blake." I said while intertwining my arm with Blake. "He's my mate."
Blake offered his hand and smiled. "Pleased to meet you sir." Dad did the same and motioned for us to sit.
Derek cleared his throat and all our attention focused on him. "Well Er, we just wanted you to know that Issy's pregnant." He muttered then looked at Issy with adoration clear in his eyes.
"Oh my God. Congratulations!" I stood up and went to hug Issy.
"But that's not the surprise we were talking about." Derek added after I returned back at my seat beside Blake.
"Then what is..." I asked but didn't get to finish my question because a shout came from the door of the living room.
"I am!" Said the masculine voice that I know so well.
I faced the owner of the voiced and squealed. "Zacchary!" I ran towards him and jumped on his arms.
Zac was my childhood bestfriend. I've known him since we were kids but when he turned 15, their family moved to Italy for pack reasons. His grandfather died and his Dad has to take over the Alpha position. I haven't seen him since then, until now.
Zac hugged me back and messed my hair. "I told you not to call me that babe!" He muttered then kissed my cheeks.
Suddenly, a growl errupted from the room. I looked back and saw Blake looking fiercely at me and Zac. I pulled away from Zac immediately and went back to Blake's side. "Errr...anyway Zac, this is Blake. He's my mate." I said while pulling Blake towards Zac.
Zac raised his brows and bent his head sideways. "Is he?" He chuckled and offered his hand to Blake. "Nice to meet you man. You've got a nice mate there."
Blake took Zac's hand and shook it firmly. "I know." He muttered coldly before letting go and putting his arms around my waist.
Blake and Zac just stood there staring at each other which made the atmosphere a little tense.
"Okay, it's lunch time!" My mom's high pitched voice broke the tension and I silently thanked her for it.
Everybody made their way to kitchen but Blake pulled me aside before following them. "You can't be that close to him." He muttered while holding both of my arms.
I looked at him and raised my brows. "You know he's my bestfriend right? I am close to him."
He pinched the bridge of his nose and took a deep breath. "That's not what I meant. I want you to stay in a safe distance. I don't appreciate you getting all touchy with him." He muttered and looked away.
I grinned and nudged him on his shoulder. "You're jealous, aren't you?" I teased him and poked his chest. "Mr. Macho man is jealous of my best friend." I sang and watched his reaction.
His eyes went wide a little and he chuckled nervously. "I am not, I don't get jealous babe. And besides, I thought Lauren was your best friend?" He asked and tried to change the subject.
I laughed at his jealousy. Who would have thought that the jealous look would be cute for Blake? I shook my head and turned around. "Whatever jelly boy!" I shouted and jogged to the kitchen while Blake silently followed behind me.
***
Lunch was spent with Zac filling us in with stories about what his family has been up to in Italy. He shared that his father was still the Alpha even though he should have inherited the status long ago. He said that he will only accept the position when his dad isn't capable to be one anymore. After we finished eating, Blake left to attend to some pack business. He was hesitant to leave at first, but after a little persuasion, he agreed to go and to pick me up later in the evening.
"Is the hammock still up?" Zac asked from behind me. I was staring at the empty road where Blake's car had just gone to.
I turned to face him and smiled. "Yup. Wanna race?" I asked him. When we were kids, we used to race up to the hammock that was placed at the backyard of our house.
Without any notice, Zac darted and headed to the backyard. I ran too and trailed after him. We collapsed on the hammock and stared aimlessly at the sky.
"I missed this." Zac muttered after a while. I turned to look at him and found him staring back at me with a thoughtful expression on his face. "I've missed you."
I smiled at him and slapped his forehead lightly. "I've missed you too idiot."
"Aww. That was harsh." He complained while massaging his forehead and I just chuckled. "So that guy's your mate huh?" He asked afterwards.
"Yeah.." I answered then went back in staring at the sky.
Zac did the same. "I think he is a little..." he paused and started to look for a word to describe my mate. "deep, I guess." He added.
I chuckled lightly at his lack of better words. "Well yeah. He's just been through a lot." I defended. I would have wanted to tell Zac what happened to Blake that made him that way but I know it's not my story to tell. Maybe I need to get them to be friends so they'll know each other better. I think that's a good idea.
Zac nodded his head. "Well as long as he make you happy, I'm okay with him." He stood up from the hammock instantly which made it out of balance. I fell on my butt and he just stood there clutching his stomach while laughing really hard.
"You better run!" I shouted. He saw my face and he stopped laughing.
"Uh oh." He muttered and took off immediately. I stood up and dusted my pants off then started chasing after him. Oh that boy is seriously in big trouble.
Unknown's POV
I was starting to believe that the world has closed down on me. How could life be this cruel? I was just a victim of the twisted situation but here I am, hated by the only person that matters to me the most. I was supposed to give up until I knew about Erin. I started following her a week ago and I can tell that she's a good person. I can also tell that she has an open mind and a good heart. I will ask for her help. If I tell her the truth, I know she wouldn't think twice. I just have to find a good timing to talk to her. I will keep on following her and when I get the chance, I'll set my plan in motion.
