The Mate Rules

CHAPTER TEN

Zac' POV

I was awaken from my sleep by the ringing of my phone. I groaned and covered my head with a pillow. The phone kept on ringing and I mindlessly picked it up from the side table. "What?" I snarled with my eyes still closed. How can someone call this early?

I heard a muffled laughter on the other line before a feminine voice spoke. "It's Erin. I was just wondering if I could ask you a favor." She muttered with a chuckle.

I rubbed my eyes and sprawled even wider on the bed. "Couldn't you atleast have waited till later? I'm on my beauty rest if you don't mind." I complained.

Erin just laughed and if I only knew, she's rolling her eyes at me right now. "I was starting to think you're gay." She teased and I can hear Blake's laughter along with hers. Oh those two were teaming up against me right now.

I messed my hair and sat up. "If I was gay, Blake wouldn't be yours anymore. Now, what do you want babe?" I asked and I heard that Blake growled at the other line. I smiled to myself and shook my head.  

Erin took a deep breath before she started. "Well I was wondering if I can ask you to look after the shop for awhile." She muttered and I can hear uncertainty in her voice.

I stood up from the bed and opened the windows. "Why? Are you going somewhere?" I asked her while I breathed the cool morning air.

"Just come over the house and I'll tell you. Okay?" She ordered and I agreed to come over. I went straight to the bathroom to take a shower. I have a feeling that I'm gonna be having a long day ahead.

After getting ready and eating breakfast, I headed straight to Erin and Blake's house. When I arrived, I noticed that there were three male wolves that guarded the house. I shrugged and knocked on the door. Erin opened it for me and escorted me to the living room. "What's with all the testosterone?" I asked her while gesturing towards the guards outside.

We sat on the couch and she glanced outside. "Oh, the guards?" She asked and I nodded. "Well Blake said he just need some precautions in case there will be rogue attacks." She shrugged.

I nodded my head at her but I still can't see why Blake did this all of a sudden. Maybe this was the problem he was referring to the other night? I pushed the thought at the back of my mind. "So what's the matter? Are you leaving?" I asked Erin.

She shifted on her seat to face me. "Well I'm coming with Blake to some meeting with the other Alphas. You know, "Luna duties"." She said while rolling her eyes.

I nodded and laughed at her. Erin wasn't still used to being a Luna. "Okay. I'm just gonna look after the shop for a few days right?" I asked and she nodded with a hopeful expression on her face. "Okay, I'll do it." She squealed and hugged me while muttering her gratitude.

Half of the day was spent with Erin giving me some insights on what I should do at her shop and all of it were as easy as pie. When she was certain that I was gonna do it, she let me leave to go to the shop.

I drove straight to the warehouse where Erin's shop was located. I got out of my car and was about to get inside when I smelled a very delicious vanilla-strawberry like scent. I roamed my eyes around and noticed a blonde girl got on a car that was parked on the other side of the street with her back facing me. I instantly knew that she was my mate, but I never got to see her face. I was about to go run after her when someone spoke.

"Excuse me." I turned around and faced a woman who's probably in her forties. I looked back again to where my mate's car was parked and noticed that she's already gone. Oh great. Just great! I found my mate but never even got to meet her. How cool was that?

I huffed and slid my hand through my hair. "Yes?" I asked the woman with my eyebrows furrowed.

She cleared her throat and her eyes were roaming around like she's looking for something. "Is Erin around? I was waiting for her but I haven't seen her since morning." She muttered in a low voice.

I looked at the woman intently. I don't know why but she looked so freaked out. "Well, she'll be out of town and she won't be coming here for days. Did you need something? Is she expecting you?" I asked the lady with a calculating voice.

Her forehead creased and she clasped her hands tightly. "No, no. I was just... Well, thank you anyway." She muttered and walked away.

That was weird. I told myself. I shook my head and continued my way inside the shop. Who would have thought that I'll find my mate today? Bad thing I only got a sight of her hair. Ahh, what a lucky guy I am. I just hope we'll come across each other again.

Erin's POV

After Zac left, I started packing my bags for the short trip that Blake and I are gonna have. I was halfway through when the door of our room opened and revealed Blake. He walked towards me and kissed my forehead. "How did it go?" He asked regarding Zac and I's agreement.

I smiled and got up then hooked my arms on his waist. "He said yes. He went there now to look around."

"Good." Blake muttered and burried his face on the crook of my neck. He then kissed my mark and pulled away. "You should pack more clothes than that." He said while pointing at my luggage that was laying on the floor.

I looked at him confused. "Why? We would just be away for two days right?" I asked and raised my brows at him.

He pulled away from me completely and rested his back on the wall. "Well I just thought that after the meetings with the Alphas, we can go to Hawaii. You know, go for a swim and have some tan." He muttered and looked at me with a smile on his face.

I gasped and ran to him. "Oh my God, I would love that. Are you serious?" I asked after I kissed his lips.

He chuckled and pinched my cheeks. "Of course I am. Now pack some more clothes, I'll just settle everything with the pack." He kissed my cheeks and headed for the door. "Oh and don't forget to bring some skimpy bikinis." He muttered and got out of the door completely.

"Perv!" I shouted at the closed door and I heard his muffled laughter as he went downstairs. I smiled to myself as I started packing another luggage. Blake really knows how to make me happy and I was really lucky for having him as my mate. Our trip to Hawaii will be a good time for us to be more closer than we already are. And who knows? Maybe that will help him get the golden ticket and we'll be mating completely in no time.
