As it always is.
Probably it goes pretty much the same way for many. First you partner, spend a lot of time together, professionally and personally, and get through some things together, good or bad, and then, eventually, it becomes more.
With Voight and his Intelligence Unit, there were some rules and things to stick to, but with one, there was no exception. No ifs, ands or buts.
No relationships in the workplace or between colleagues.
The thing with Jay and you, if Voight found out about it, it would end in termination. With your dismissal, to be more precise, because after all, you had only been with the special unit for half a year.
Because it was necessary to close the case as quickly as possible, your shift went well past midnight.
"Hey," you said dog-tired as you got into the car with Jay, since he had offered to take you home, "That was.... that was intense."
