Chapter 6: What Happened Earlier(mainly flashback)

Before  The   End   Of   Chapter   5

"So what your telling me, is that Raine was captured by Kikimora and 'put to sleep' using their coven mark? Well if where gonna save them how do we remove those ding-dang things?" Eda said over that day's lunch (along with Eda's usual cup of apple blood).

Hunter and Lost thought for a moment. "I think I saw a book on something like removing coven marks in the library one time but didn't see it as important..." Lost ponders aloud. Hunter nods.

"Yeah but Belos found it and burned it so if any of it still exists it'd be locked in his private storage. And not even I have gone in there," he points out, crossing his arms.

"Yea but we could use Luz's invisibility glyph to sneak in."

"But then we'd have to wait for him to open it and that could take weeks."

"Mmmm, that's fair," Lost sighed, leaning their elbows on the table and resting their head in their hands. "So what now? If we finally removed my mark, plus Lilith and yours, it'd be harder for them to find us. Kikimora almost found me multiple times even though I've non-stop picked at it. It's pretty faded now but still there." They showed the mark, which had scratches and faded down almost like a temporary tattoo.

Hunter looked at it. "Well that acts like a scratched record or CD (just go with it for my sanity). It makes it harder to find you but still is able to locate you. If Kiki did the same thing to you as she did to Raine the vines would be kinda spacey and faded from a bright gold to a dull bronze-ish color."

Luz suddenly snapped her fingers, causing the pair to jump (they forgot about the others for a minute). "I've got it! What if we got a scout disguise and gave him something that would need to be put in the vault? Like... Hunter's Golden Guard staff or all of the research on my glyphs? Then someone else snuck in with the invisibility glyph? Of course we'd have to figure out how to get them out from there..."

Hunter's eyes lit up. "Luz you genius! But neither me nor Lost can be in the disguise... he'd recognize our voices. But if I was the one who snuck in, I could use an artifact that's in their to get out. Or I could use Rascal to teleport out! Yeah, that'd work..."

Lost looked at Luz. "Hmm, you're about the same height as that really quiet scout who did research on how Petrification has a couple weaknesses and could be used as a way to extend life... what happened to her?" As they said the last bit they turned their head to look at Hunter.

"Last time I saw her she was summarizing all info on the glyphs and some different magic wood types, and that was before I left to here, so she should still be working on it as she was asleep with only one sentence on the paper."

Eda stood up. "Well then kids, let's pack our crap and find that scout!"

Luz nervously stood in her disguise as she presented the scout's paper to the Emperor.

Eda had figured out how to capture the girl's voice in the mask (it had delayed then slightly but was worth it so Luz would be less likely to be figured out).
