1990, Alaska

The snow was zombie-white. Winter’s lacerating hurricanes and whining winds had come and gone, leaving a terrible calmness. The skies above were an unholy mixture of shale-grey clouds and pasty streaks. Callous winter was stifling the world with its icy breath.

White crystals cover the greenery of the surrounding trees. Silence enveloped the area, yet a gentle gust of wind could be heard. It was almost impossible to realize someone was in the middle of that snowy field. Megan was lying on the snow, if there was no movement of breathing, she must have been thought to die of cold.

The swift footsteps collided with the snow floor, four gray wolves were seen entering the empty field area. Then their pace slowed as they got closer to her. The Alpha let out a loud howl before the others followed as if to signal when they had discovered something new.

The foremost wolf, who looked like the Alpha-male among them all slowly moved to Megan's side before sniffing her scent. Her slow and calm heartbeat made the wolf not bother to be in a defensive state, assuming that she was just a human. She gave the wolf an aura that made it want to protect her, not see her as a threat.

Then the alpha-wolf let his possession rise, yet gently being by Megan's side. He hoped to be able to provide warmth even though little did he knew that the girl don't need it. His tough body almost covered the whole figure of the girl as his sharp eyes watched around them, willing to face any threat that wanted to come to the girl. The other three wolves were close to them but not that close, after being growled by their alpha.

Without their awareness, there were Spanish vampires on the hillside, watching them from a distance. Eleazar and his wife, Carmen rushed to the area as soon as they heard the howl of the wolves. They initially wanted to feed from the wolves, but after what they saw immediately stopped them. In the middle of the snow field, they witnesses the wolves protecting something, or rather a girl.

"We have to check on her." Carmen gripped her husband's wrist, her face clearly worries to hear the girl's heartbeats that was too slow for a human being. Fear if the girl is injured, even worse with the cold that hit.

"I know, but the wolves don't seem to be leaving her." He looked apologetically at his wife, although they could have just made the wolves go away but the fear if what was done could hurt the girl was more worrying.

"But-"

"Mi Amor, we waited more until there was a drastic movement, but after a while there was none, we will go down there." Eleazar said convincing his wife, who was clearly still worried about the girl's condition, he felt that too. Even though he was once called a Volturi, he still has compassion for creatures or someone weaker than them.

"She's her"

"Who?" Carmen looked confusedly at her husband, not understanding who he meant by that.
