Hell's War

Chapter Seven

I get up quickly. Lila moves over to Roshni and shakes her awake. Once we're all awake, we gather in the middle of the room.

'So, what's the plan?' Lila asks.

'Umm, we sneak into the camp and make our way to Athena's office.' Cole replies.

'You mean the heavily guarded camp and impenetrable office, right?' Roshni inquires.

'Yeah, that's the one.'

'Wait, I just had an idea!' I exclaim, 'What if I make a tunnel that leads straight to Athena's office. It'd be much quicker and safer!' I exclaim excitedly.

'That could work, but don't you have to know where it is first?' Lila points out. I feel like an idiot. Of course I have to know where it is.

'So I suppose we have to sneak in.'

We quietly sneak past the men guarding the borders of the camp. Then we turn a corner and bump right into two guards. They grab us, calling for the men at the border to come help. After a brief struggle, we are marched to a small cave.

'Wait here, spies.' One of them snarls at us. They leave.

'Tanya make a secret room! Quick, before they come back!' Cole says in a low voice. I quickly turn and concentrate, imagining a secret room at the back, with a hidden catch. I open my eyes and feel for the catch. A door swings open and we hurry inside. I quietly close the door again. I had purposely made the walls thin so I could listen in on what's happening.

'Shh! The walls are thin and I'm trying to listen!' I hissed at the others who are starting to talk. I placed my ear against the wall, and heard somebody enter the cell.

'There's nobody here.'a cold voice states.

'But Athena-'

'Find them and bring them to me.' I hear her leave. The guard swears and leaves, calling to some other guards to help with the search. I turn to my friends. Lila is looking thoughtful.

'What now?' Lila turns and looks at me.

'I think I've got a plan. What else can you do to the rocks around you?'

'How many guards are there!' I exclaim in a whisper. Roshni has just spotted another set of guards. I focus on the ground in front of us, and a series of stalagmites and stalactites pops up in front of us. Lila is a genius. She figured out that if I can make rooms, I can probably make a few things to block us from view. We waited until the guards had continued walking, and then I vanished my newest creations. We continued on in this manner, stopping and starting as the guards made their rounds. We'd been doing this for half an hour when I heard a whole troop of guards headed right towards us.

'Over here.' I whisper to the others, motioning towards a wide archway. Hopefully the room is deserted and we can continue after the troop is gone. I scurry into the room, straightening up as I enter. About five paces in I stop. This is Athena's office.
