Hell's War

Chapter Ten

Emmaline leads us down the tunnel towards Athena's office. I'm bursting with questions, but I figure that I'll be better off asking Athena instead of Emmaline. She stops outside Athena's door and motioned for us to go in. Then she turns and walks away. We walk into the office and sit down on the rocks posing as chairs. Athena sits facing us in her rough chair.

'I have called you here because I have finally worked out the details to the plan.' Athena announces.

'What plan?' I ask.

'The plan for you to kidnap the leader of the enemy.' she states.

'I hate this. I am officially bored of spying.' I announce to the poor people who have to put up with my complaints. They are of course Roshni, Lila and Cole. We are currently spying out where Robert, the great leader of the enemy, is so that we can kidnap him. We're right under his private rooms, waiting for him to call it a day. We'd gotten over here through one of my brilliantly handy tunnels after Athena had briefed us on our mission. My train of thought is interrupted by Robert walking into his room.

'He's here.' I whisper. The others immediately stand up, getting ready. I wait until Robert is in the middle of the room, then I encase him in rock and pull him down into the ground. I somehow manage to accomplish this without him yelling for his guards.

Once he's safely down into our soundproofed cave, I release his upper body from the rock. He looks pretty funny, as if he is sprouting out of a particularly large lump in the floor. Then, of course, he starts yelling for his guards.

'HELP! GET ME OUT OF HERE! I'M GETTING KIDNAPPED!!' Cole leans down towards him, 'Guess what sunshine, your in a soundproofed cave with some people who work for Athena. I'd advise you to keep your voice down and go along with everything we say.' he threatens. Robert puffs up indignantly, but wisely stays silent. We walk back along the tunnel. Well, most of us, anyway. Robert is being pulled behind us through the floor.

When we eventually reach Athena's office, I get out of the tunnel first, then I pull Robert through after me. The others follow.

'Thank you, Tanya. You may now release him.' Athena says. I obediently concentrate, and moments later, he is free. Robert is immediately restrained by some guards.

'You may go now.' Athena dismisses us. We head back to our room to wait to be summoned again.

'Athena wants you back in her office.' I jump at the voice. I turn and see Emmaline at the doorway. I quickly shake Lila awake, and then we all go with Emmaline. Once we are in Athena's office and sitting down, Athena starts to speak.

'Tanya, I need you to create a message to the the enemy camp. I need you to inscribe this on a large wall: We have your Leader. Surrender now and your lives will be spared. -Athena.'

'Ok, got it.' I concentrate for a minute, making sure everything is spelt right. 'Done. Now what is this gonna accomplish. They probably won't surrender, they're too proud.'

'It's not to make them surrender, it's to provoke them into battle.' Athena states calmly. We all gape at her. She can't be serious. It's just not possible. Right?
