Vanessa's POV
I hum a song as I pull on my simple outfit on. Thankfully that witch hasn't pulled any stunt yet.
I'm just wondering - does Jace really want to see me?
He and Max must be tight like my only friend Mandy said. I had completely forgotten about her with all the drama over the weekend.
I text her quickly asking if we should meet for breakfast. That girl's always on her phone. She responds in seconds
"Good morninggggg bitchhh", Mandy screams as she skips towards me
"Mandy", I give her a look
"Guess what happened baby girl", she mumbles pulling her skirt down a little, it was much shorter than allowed.
"Max is off the market girl! Check your socials."
"Oh really?", I say trying to hide the disdain in my voice
"Terrible right? But he looks totally whipped", she pushes her phone in my face so that I can see the picture of the two captioned, "my man"
"He really likes her?", I nibble on my bottom lip staring at nothing.
"It's unbelievable. She's horrible"
"I know. She tried to bully me", I inform her before recounting the weekend's events.
I purposely leave the part about Max and I talking. She'll start assuming that I can replace Marissa
"Wait that's what they were all talking about? That was you - what the heck?"
She looks livid. I for one, had hardly been vocal but I was far from a goody two shoes all my life. I wasn't going to let myself be pushed over like before.
"I'm sick of her", I grumble
"Let's get food!", Mandy suddenly screams, startling me
"Sure. Let's"
We hurry to the cafeteria while Mandy goes on and on about events coming up in the school. Sports, and stuff.
I walk in scanning the place. It was quite occupied but a couple of people looked barely awake.
"See those people over there?", Mandy whispers pointing at a group of people, most of whom look like they wanted to sleep right there in the cafeteria
"What's up with them?"
"Got drunk out of their minds yesterday", she whispers. How does she have all this information?
"What? How?", I ask
"Sneaked out"
I gape in disbelief. Now I wanna break rules too. I mean..since it's possible.
"How'd you know?", I ask turning to look at her. The mischievous glint in her eyes makes me even more curious.
She shakes her head pretending to zip her lips before grabbing her breakfast tray
"Come onnn. Just tell me"
"One of them may have stumbled into my room-"
"A guy?!", I blurt out and she nods slowly smiling like she did something bad
"What did you do?", I ask almost innocently
"Nothing nothing- he just slept there, in my bed- thankfully my scaredy cat of a roommate was having a sleepover in her bestie's room, because Mrs Woods did the inspection early last night, she could leave and my guy could come over. He left before I woke"
