Vanessa
"It's game time!!!", Mandy squeals entering my room in excitement. School is long over and guess what? I finally decided to join the drama club and the photography club. I get the chance to take pictures during events and for drama club, I'll be designing costumes. Nico thought of it once he learnt I loved clothes.
Mandy looks cute in her cheerleaders' costume. I've definitely seen nicer ones but it's not really about the costume it's about how she rocks it.
"Aren't you supposed to be practicing your routine?", I ask typing on my laptop. I just have to edit some essay for my AP world history class.
"Nah uh. The people from the other school are here. You have to get dressed", she says sternly.
"Okay mom", I roll my eyes. I took a nice shower not too long ago.
"So your outfit?", she asks and I shrug
"Nessa!"
I roll my eyes as she looks at me with disappointment.
I throw on black stretchy jeans, tight-fitted, a cute sweatshirt and pull on my New balances hoping that I'll not be cold. The fall weather has kicked in already.
I really don't feel like dressing up.
"How's this?", I ask
"You look cute. Very cute. Maybe you're going to find a hot guy"
"Maybe", I chuckle as she squeals excitedly. I pull out my massive make up set. Trust me when I say it's massive. It's a whole collection.
"Damn girl I am so stealing that"
"My mom goes crazy when we're shopping", I grin putting almost no makeup on. It's so light honestly but I'm tired and lazy and who cares?
I follow her into the bleachers. Thankfully Nico saved me a seat. Mandy quickly disappeared. She's probably back with the cheer team.
"Are you good?", Nico asks raising an eyebrow. I shrug and he pats his shoulder indicating I can lean on him
"Are you guys together or something?", someone asks. He's sitting beside Nico who's trying to tuck away the loose strands of hair in my face.
"That's my friend", Nico whispers. I remember him saying something about being tight with this guy since freshman year.
"I'm just asking you know.... since she's Joey Atkins' girl"
"Wait what?", Nico blurts out. He raises my head slowly holding my chin and forcing me to look into his piercing gaze.
"You and Joey? I thought it was Max"
It isn't Max or Joey. Where's he getting this absurd information from?
"Well damn. I mean hey...a girl as gorgeous as you is worth fighting for", his friend speaks up
"I don't even speak to them. There's nothing going on", I explain.
Nico's friend shrugs focusing on the girl sitting next to him.
"Joey Atkins doesn't date. He doesn't care for girls. So if you have your eyes on him please look elsewhere", Nico warns
"I'm not even going there. Honestly. Besides they're Jason's friends that's it"
"Are you sure?", he asks and I nod.
The game starts and we have snacks in hand watching intently. They weren't wrong when they said we had a good team. Jace was phenomenal on the pitch.
The whole place is packed with people cheering loudly. Nico was on his feet half the time screaming.
Our school won 3-2. I smile as the final whistle blows and Jase and all his friends hug each other in excitement. Well except that guy, the Joey person. He just has his hands in his pocket looking at his boots.
