Jalen POV

I was furious that Nick had touched Laylah.

"Laylah, we gotta get those burns checked out and treated, you can get infected.

"Okay, but what hospital can we go to since Paris is at the UPenn hospital?"Laylah questioned.

"Let's go to the Mount Holly Virtua Memorial Hospital."

"That's all the way in New Jerseyyy," Laylah complained.

"Do you want to get your burns treated or not?"

"Ummm," Laylah answered.

"Lay your the med student. You tell me what we should do," I said looking at Laylah. Sometimes Laylah can be the stupidest person ever. Like she doesn't think in a beneficial way she'll think about the negatives.

"Fine let's go." Laylah fussed.

"That's what I thought," I responded, jumping down from the island counter.

"And now we aren't going. Come lay down." Laylah instructed. I swear she's so stubborn.

"Girl get your butt up. You can't even lay down properly."

"Pick me uppp," Laylah whined like a little girl.

"You're a 14-year-old stuck in a 22-year-olds body," I joked.

"And you are like a 13-year-old stuck in a 23-year-olds body. So immature," she remarked while getting up. "Now come on Hurts. We have somewhere to be."

"God the things I-"

"What you say?" Laylah asked, smirking.

"Nothing," I told her.

"Sure Playboy," Laylah laughed getting into the car.

"Wow so now I'm a Playboy."

"To be fair when I first met you I thought you were one of those boys but I guess not. I mean I have only known you for like a week though," she explained.

"One very long week," I commented. "And you trust me like we've known each other for years, so don't even."

Laylah stuck out her tongue at me with a small frown on her face. When she acted like she was upset she looked beautiful.

"You're lucky I'm driving."

"Mhmm, you're lucky you're driving."

"Oh really show me something then," I remarked.

"Whatchu wanna see," she shot back. All I could do was laugh. Like how am I supposed to answer that? "So now all you can do is laugh, huh? What was all that talking you was doing?"

"I mean I don't know. What am I supposed to say?"

"Oh- Well ima take a nap tell me when we are there," Laylah said leaning her head back.

"Aight sweetheart," I said purposely to make her eyes open again.

"What did you just say?" Laylah asked, smiling.

"What do you mean? I said stupid." I lied.

"No you didn't, you said sweeettttheaaarrrtt," Laylah said, stretching out the word like a little kid.

"Then why is you asking then," I laughed.

"I don't know," Laylah mumbled, slowly falling asleep.

*20 MINUTES LATER*

"Laylah, we're heerrree," I said, shaking her awake.

"Okay let's go," Laylah said, hopping out of the car.
