Chapter 29

Devonta POV

All of us boys were leaving besides Tobias and Matisse because we had to get to the bus to get to Jersey. For some reason we had to go to Jersey so we could take our plane to Atlanta for the first game of the season. While we were piling things into Jalen's car and Anthony's truck, Paris came and said bye to me while mean mugging everyone else, especially Jalen. Matisse was right behind her but he dapped everyone up and hopped into the driver's seat of his car while Paris was in the passengers seat. She put her duffle bag in the back and was pretty mad for some reason. But I don't got time for her bs, she can be petty sometimes. It could just be a small argument with Laylah or Tobias and Paris makes it look like someone broke her phone. Whatever it was she just needs her time alone before going back to normal.

"Yo Smitty and Quez, who ya'll going with," Darius asked, from the passenger side of Ant's truck.

"I'll go with JH," I responded and Quez tagged along. Jalen had the most leg room and I had to talk to him about some stuff.

I hopped into his car and connected my phone to the wire so it was chagring and was connected to bluetooth automatically.

"What's up with you and Laylah," I asked.

"Nothing, we just been chilling," he responded. While we were talking Quez was in the back listening and nodding like he wasn't confused.

"Wait, so hold up, why we talking about those two. Ain't it obvious they dating," Quez asked with his deep sleepy voice.

"Quez go to sleep," I responded. Jalen was laughing, but he was also the one driving.

"Ay, drive the damn car. Stop laughing," Quez scolded him. Jalen eventually stopped laughing, so I continued my conversation with him.

"Anyways, so why was Paris so pressed when she left with Matisse?"

"I'm sorry you said what- She left with Tisse?" Quez and Jalen questioned at the same time.

"Yea," I slowly nodded my head.

"I don't know. She ain't talk to me today," he answered truthfully.

"You know whats funny, the way you don't care she left with Matisse," Quez pointed out. I barely even reacted, I realized. Jalen's eyes widened a bit, but this man though odd thoughts at times.

"DON'T WIDEN YOUR EYES NAH, DON'T DO THAT JALEN," Quez laughed, he caught in to what Jalen was thinking. Unfortunately, I was thinking it too, ain't no way my older sister bout to do that, but she's grown know, so there is not much I could do about it.

"Quez stop talking," I told him though I doubt he'll listen. "Now what do you suppose is happening between them," I questioned the two boys.

"Ummm, are you really asking that question? She left LAYLAH, with MATISSE, mean mugged ME, but said bye to you. Now what do you suppose happened?" Jalen added extra emphasis to the names, he was giving me hints.

"There dating?" I guessed.

"Well the cats out the bag now," Quez commented while putting on his Beats Studio3 which are soundproof so now he probably won't hear me yelling.

"Yes they are. But before you go all brother mode, remember that she is grown, older than you, she can make her own decisions. She has enough experience with men and terrible people in general to know at this point who is good and bad for her," Jalen explained to me. What he said made sense, was I going to listen, no.

"But Jalen why would she hide it from me. I'M HER BROTHER," I complained.

"Cause you acting like that." With that, the conversation was over. She knew if she told Tobias or myself we wouldn't allow it. So that's why she probably mad at Jalen. He probably hinted at their relationship to Tobias. But if he finds out I doubt if he says anything. I'm positive he knows Jalen likes Laylah and vice versa, that's why they so close. Tobias is her real brother and he isn't making a big deal, I'd be damned if he did with Paris.
