I get in my car and drive to meet Jason. It's a little less than half an hour so it isn't too bad. I've done this drive so many times I could probably do it with my eyes closed. Before I know it I'm pulling up outside the ever so familiar building. From the outside it looks completely normal and anyone who doesn't actually know what's going on inside would probably just think it's offices.
But it's so much more than that.
I mean yeah, it probably was an office building before we took it over but now it's so much better. I walk in the lobby and go straight to the second floor where Jason's office is. It's busy as usual. Different people walking around, a few nod at me as I pass but most of them just ignore me. I don't blame them, not many people would recognize me or know who I am.
Case in point, Harry and his friends not knowing who I was the other day.
I walk up to Jason's office and the door is open so I just walk in. He's sitting behind his desk scrolling on his phone. He doesn't realise that I'm there until I sit down on the chair in front of his desk and clear my throat.
He looks up, slightly startled. "Hey Gwen, didn't see you."
"Hey Jason, what did you want to talk to me about?" I relax a little into the chair.
"Right." He clears his throat and crosses his legs. "You know how recently Derek has made more frequent attacks against us and has been getting noticeably stronger?"
"Yeah." I nod. He is right. Derek has gathered more men and his following has gotten so much stronger in the last few months. But even with that I'm not worried that he will do too much damage. As strong as Derek as his men are getting, we are stronger and I have no doubt in that.
Jason opens his mouth to reply but before he can say anything there are screams and yells from downstairs. Both of us bolt up from our chairs to see what the commotion is. Once we get to the top of the stairs we can clearly see what the problem is.
All the people that I saw casually enjoying their day on my way in are now in a fight with around 25 people all wearing at least one item of red clothing.
Derek.
It's kind of funny. No one that I know has ever actually seen Derek. He always hides behind his followers and never shows his face. Jason is the complete opposite, he fights with everyone who works for him. Most people that don't work for him don't even know how important he is. That's what I like about him. He isn't afraid to get his hands dirty.
I look over at Jason and he looks more annoyed than worried. They are getting sloppier. Usually it's more discreet attacks not like this.
Jason and I both book it down the stairs to join the fight. I grab the gun I had stashed in my pants and Jason pulls out a knife. He goes off to help but I keep my stance where I am and start to shoot any of the people wearing red.
