(Same trigger warnings as before, don't continue reading if you are easily disturbed)
For the first couple of days, Sedona had been a saint! Proper manners, no issues, not even a addiction. Charlie could bounce in joy at how well the demon turned a new leaf, maybe this could work out!
She was a tiny bit odd, she was constantly following Alastor around, listening to him spew on and on about things Charlie really didn't understand, sometimes she truly thought Alastor just liked to talk.
Okay no, she knew Alastor liked to talk.
Sedona also looked at Al...like Vaggie looked at her, love struck. Yet, Charlie knew sometimes she could read situations wrong, and thought maybe the younger demon just thought high of him due to his status.
She also seemed a little uneasy around Vaggie and Angel, like they were not friends, even though neither were mean to her, Vaggie could be sometimes a little vicious at first and Angel was sometimes way over the top so maybe that was it?
Charlie skipping came to a halt when she saw Sedona talking to Angel dust down the hall, however her body language was telling Charlie real fast this wasn't a good conversation.
She was standing jagged straight, hands tightly curled into fists behind her back, the nails digging so hard into the palms she may hurt herself if she continued to press her nails into the soft skin of her palms. Charlie decided to tuck herself in the corner of the hall and see what was being said before she intervened.
"Lady, I'm tellin ya, Al ain't interested like that"
What?
"I don't think I asked for a love fortune, my dear spider" the sentence seemed innocent and sweet, however the tone didn't match, it was darker, sinister even.
"You are just in the way" she spat, she was so much shorter than Angel, always seemed so sweet and unbothered, yet she sounded scarier now.
okay seriously what?
"How the hell am I 'in the way' when I know for a fact he wouldn't fuck either of us" Angel laughed bitterly at the thought of that. Charlie didn't like where this conversation was going, but for record she had to give credit to Angel, it was possibly the wrong approach but, he seemed to be defending Alastor.
Alastor made it clear from the beginning that he was not into sexual relationships, she wasn't sure on romantic ones, however the one time he almost tore Angels arm off for touching him was definitely a warning sign if 'don't even try it'.
"I'm tryna spear you the heart break toots" Angel sneered, leaning down to be eye level with her.
Uh oh...
"Besides if anyone would have any luck with that, it's our hot bar tender" Angel then stood up and snorted at the idea, the introverted lazy cat with the over extroverted psycho deer, totally made sense..(cough cough)
Charlie heard silence for a long moment, she honestly was waiting for a ball to drop just to break the tension, then she heard a long exhale.
"You're right, I should not have been rude, I guess I've gotten carried away" Sedona sounded like normal, the tone out her voice completely.
Charlie let out a soft exhale in relief.
"Trust me toots, it's not hard to want the guy, he's good lookin, but you know after almost having my arm ripped from the socket, imma try to spear ya that" Angel laughed and so did Sedona.
"You're right, thay be terrible to recover from due just a harmless gesture!" She snickered, the air was breezy again, light. Thank goodness.
"By the way, what was the bar tenders name? I've heard him be called both Husk and Husker, which one is correct?" Sedona asked out of random, she heard a pause before Angel answered.
"Husk, I think Al only calls him Husker" Angel said a little unsettled, why all of the sudden did she care about his correct name? Just so she could be correct? I mean he did mention the cat bird so maybe she just realized she didn't quite know his name.
Yet that look in her eyes...was kinda sending a red flag and he wasn't sure why.
"Ah I see!" She smiled, it was way to wide, way to tight.
"Thank you Angel again, now if you'll excuse me, I do have some business to do today, my home hasn't been properly cleaned in ages, and I know I need to do that, plus gather some more things here for my stay" she then walked past him, her walk was speedy as she dashed down the hall and turned the corner.
Angel then narrowed his eyes at the other corner of the hall.
"Who ever was ear dropping better cmon out" Angel called out, Charlie felt her cheeks go on fire at her carelessness.
Charlie slowly peaked around the corner and stared into Angels pink eyes, which were full of amusement.
"So, what do you think of all that?" Angel laughed, walking up to Charlie as her face still burned.
"Uh...she seemed a little on edge there" Charlie said truthfully, Angel rubbed the back of his neck with his top left arm.
"Yeah, unhinged, but not surprisin' I mean every demon has a tick" Angel dust fluffed his hair, per usual, and glanced around for a moment.
"Ya know...she said somethin fuckin weird the other day that makes me a little nervous around her" Angel looked around again as if to make sure no one was listening.
"What was it?" Charlie asked, tilting her head a bit.
"You know about that murder that actually caught hells attention?" Angel said in a hushed tone, Charlie shuddered.
"Yeah, one of the weirdest ones, most killers don't leave corpses like that, even cannibals don't leave a body like that, it just has everyone confused" Charlie could still see the pure vision of the demons body in her mind from when she accidentally turned on the TV that day, they apparently talked about it all. Day. Long. Vaggie had told her that Husk and her both saw it early that morning. Both equally confused by what made it news worthy till they showed the corpse.
"She...made a comment about it that...had me a little bit spooked" Angel then leaned down and whispered.
"She said it was a shame to leave the eye like that, that she had beautiful eyes"
Charlie blinked, maybe she had known the demon?
"Maybe she...knew her?" Charlie said with a confused expression.
"What demon says that about someone they knew?" Angel asked, placing his bottom arms on his hips and crossing his top ones.
"Some demons are strange about grief Angel" Charlie defended, even thought that was an odd statement she knew some demons acted that way to seem unaffected.
"Maybe so...just...somethings wrong with her.."
...wouldn't he know he was more right than he thought
