Alastor was fascinated with Huskers eyes.
True, despite who and what he was, those eyes were the most exotic thing on his person, and that was saying something.
His feline friend was most certainly an eye catcher, with razor sharp teeth, massive red and black wings and claws that could slice through flesh with ease. Grey and white fur you wanted to pet for hours (what?), a top hat, and a bow tied. You would be quite surprised to find one of the softest demons to ever exist. Inside and out.
However, the only way you would know that or have a hint of seeing that soft side, were those eyes, that was the only way you could see that person inside, not the bushwa his partner put on around almost everyone he met.
Almost everyone, you caught that didn't you?
Yes, Alastor after many years of friendship, had began to learn his feline amigo's moods, ticks, everything he could.
Like a good example, Husker was not a natural born killer. Beat the brakes off someone in a bar? Sure, easy! Killing someone? Different story.
Another one Alastor had learned, was Husker was very considerate of others, despite his slew of very colorful languages, and bad manners, he would listen and respect whom ever he had become attached to.
Alastor even began to watch from a far when Husker would pull off his best poker face, those eyes would be the only way you could even get a hint of the truth from the cat hybrid. Like the gambler Husker was, he would hide almost all emotion in a game, it also seemed like he applied that to everything.
Like right now.
Husker was standing on the other side the bar, eyes watching Angel Dust, as Angel ranted and raved about the sleazy overlord he worked for (by force Alastor assumed). Husker was leaned onto his bar counter, seemingly uninterested and maybe not even listening. Now if you did not know Husker you would simply think exactly that, that he was very uninterested by the conversation at hand. By the way his face didn't move during any part of Angels ranting, added by his slouching position as he leaned, and his alcohol bottle was in his hand as normal. His wings and tail didn't even expose his emotions as he continued to just sit quietly and listen to Angel rant on and on.
Yet, the spark of anger in Huskers eyes were telling a very different story. The only way you could tell he was angry was through the flames of orange that were solely focused on Angel.
Alastor was entranced by it.
Angel then after a while, dismissed himself to his room and retired for the evening, leaving Husker to finally let go of the poker face and dig his claws into the bottle. As he did every time he had to hold a poker face for too long.
But, tonight he didn't do that.
Instead he looked dead at Alastor, like he wasn't hidden at all.
"I know you've been watchin the whole time asshole, now come out" Husker spat out, yet there was no venom behind it.
Oh no.
"You still surprise me as always!" Alastor appeared right beside him, the cat didn't even flinch. Only his tail came to life, moving slowly back and forth.
"You've actually been doing it for the past week and I want to know why" Husker said evenly, his eyes on Alastor like a cat on a bird (pun intended).
Well that wasn't exactly something Alastor realized until right now.
Had he been just simply studying his friend even more now than before? Or...
Was he denying something?
Alastor was not good with emotions, he couldn't name many that ran through him at times. He'd simply keep his smile wide as ever and appear as if the world could burn and be fine with it.
Well...bad example, he would be perfectly fine with that.
Alastor also hated being caught in the act of something, he tends forget that Husker, despite as drunk as he appears, has higher senses than him and the rest of the hotel staff combined.
Cause again, Cat.
Also, Husker knew him, and that made Alastor feel like he had to equally know his friend, be able to read him just like Husker could read Alastor.
It was one of the biggest reasons he was intrigued when he had first met his darling Husker. Even in the beginning his friend wasn't afraid to ask him about his mood changes, or seem to just know when the atmosphere changed around him.
"You are silent, not good" Husker snickered a bit, staring at Alastor with amusement mixed with curiosity.
"I simply do not know how to address this, I, myself...have no answer on why my behavior has changed as of late..." Alastor was searching his brain on the reason that made him start this whole side adventure, to learn of Husker as much as he could.
He had been friends with him for a long amount of decades now, so why now had he taken more interest? Why did it seem more needed to know his friend?
"Wow, you forgot about something you put in your own head? That's not very surprising" Husker was enjoying this humiliation a little too much.
Alastor felt his cheeks slightly heat up.
This was very frustrating, on one hand he wanted to not give Husker any satisfaction. To pretend this was just cause he was bored and or he was up to something that necessarily didn't involve Husker.
Yet...
He also wanted to take Husker to his room and let that incredibly soft fur of his and listen to that purr that no one else knew about.
Yes, Alastor long ago found out Husker could purr, and ever sense Alastor would try desperately to hear it every chance he could get.
His heart did a back flip at the idea.
"Hell to Al, answer me dumbass" Husker was now waving his hand in Alastor face, making him blink rapidly.
Oh dear, did he as the kids say 'space out'?
For the rest of the evening, Alastor easily avoided the subject of why he was stalking his friend for the rest of the time, Husker finally gave it up and they had a conversation about everything yet nothing as they normally would when the final customer left the bar.
Perhaps one day, Alastor would figure out why he was so hypnotized to his Husker.
.
.
This is basically how I see Alastor thinking, like he really doesn't understand emotions other than sadistic glee, and anger. I kinda thought it was cute but this is my first one forgive me
