X-Tale

Cross looked up as he saw the monsters turning away from Frisk and Chara. He couldn't help but feel bad. He felt awful himself when he remembered how he also rejected the children. They're just kids after all! Turning away, he then quickly walked off before the kids could notice him and approach him.

Since he's aware of everything now, the overwrite doesn't affect him anymore, and he knows that Gaster could feel it. He just doesn't know who is it. He then went to the nearby woods and then glanced up, seeing Hero waiting for him. "So, what will it be?" Hero softly asked, straight to the point. Cross couldn't help but smile softly. "I want to change the outcome, for X." Cross softly said. X is like a brother to him, and he hates it so much to see him suffering. He cares for X as much as he cares for his mates and boss.

"Alright, I will freeze time now." "You can do that?" "Since I'm in control of this Multiverse, yes. Now c'mon." Hero then raised his hand and Cross watched in awe as everything froze around them. "C'mon, I saw Chara around here!" Cross chirped as Hero then floated up. "I'll open a portal here, I'll meet you at the Anti-VOID." Hero spoke and Cross gave a thumbs up. Soon enough, Cross then rushed towards town. He made sure he trained himself every overwrite to counter his lazy personality. Having to make sure he can still act after all.

"Frisk?! Brother please!" Cross frowned at the worried and shocked yells of Chara before running to the scene. "Chara..." Cross spoke and Chara looked up. "S-Sans?! How are you moving- why is everyone frozen- what's-" "I know you're quite shocked and concerned right now-" "You think?!" "But I can explain." Cross finished, quite used to the old Chara's habit of interrupting him. Plus X tends to annoy him a lot of times so he's used to it. "How do you not hate me or Frisk?!" Chara growled while Cross sweatdropped. "Again, I promise I will explain. I need you to trust me, and follow me." Cross spoke and Chara stared at him. This is all so new to him, what's happening. He probably won't get an answer if he doesn't follow Cross though. "Also don't try to attack me, I know how to dodge you." Cross gave him a finger gun, surprising Chara before his eyes narrowed in suspicion. Cross then motioned for Chara to follow and began to weave himself through the crowd. He's very good at navigation after being the navigator for the bad gang for eons.

Cross looked behind him and saw Chara following him hesitantly. "Don't worry Chara, I'm sure they won't unfreeze until we get back." Cross assured and Chara glanced at him wearily. Just how is Cross so calm about this? He doesn't get it! "Gaster is also frozen too, he doesn't even know anything about this." Cross smiled, surprising Chara. Gaster doesn't know about this?! Now that's new. Very new.

"Here we are. C'mon." Cross then entered the white portal while Chara blinked in surprise. "What...?" Chara meeped when the portal closed behind him while Cross looked around. There was actually a few SOULs here and there. Cross then saw the familiar figure and rushed towards them. "Heeerroooo!" Cross screamed, making Hero jumped. "Jesus Cross! Don't scare me like that!" "Who's Jesus?" Cross blinked lightly while Hero blinked back. "Ignore that. You have Chara?" "Yeah, over there." Cross pointed at Chara who caught up and panting. "The hell Sans?!" Chara blinked when he saw the human. Who the hell is he? Plus. Where the hell are they? And why were there SOULs hanging above the ceiling?! This is all so confusing!

"Alright, I've tweaked the coding of the Anti-VOID so you should be able to use magic." "Alright... Power me up though old man, I don't have Determination anymore." Cross scoffed. "Right right." Hero chuckled softly. "Can someone please explain what's going on?! Sans! You told me you'd explain!" Chara yelled, getting agitated now while Cross turned to him. Again, quite used to the emotional outburst. "Alright... Lets start from the top." Cross smiled softly, he found it nostalgic, seeing Chara like this. Sure, Chara has grown up more than once, but he still sees Chara as a kid, especially with how bratty they can act at times, but that's what makes him, Chara. "The first I should let you know, is that the Overwrite button doesn't affect me anymore after my creation." Cross began while Chara blinked in surprise. "I'm not this Gaster's creation after all." Cross smiled softly. "Wh- Wait- How did you- what-" Chara sputtered out while Cross chuckled softly. "There was once a time, where the Multiverse was much bigger than the one we're in." Cross spoke as he glanced at all the SOULs. "That was the Multiverse before what's called a Multiversal Reset. Those who has seen the button or is the core of an AU can remember those from the past. That included me." Cross then turned to Chara. "The reason why the Overwrite button doesn't affect me anymore, was because I was created by the Gaster from the old Multiverse. This Gaster you have grown up with, is the Gaster who hasn't ever created me. Just brought me back to life in the first timeline." Cross spoke while Chara stared at Cross. "I didn't know how to break this news to you back then Chara... I didn't know if I wanted to change the future's outcome or stay and suffer like everyone did in the old Multiverse. Which is why it took me longer to tell you. I'm sure you understand, since you remember every timeline overwrites as well." Cross gave Chara a soft look, who was still shocked and staring at him.

"I... I don't know what to say..." Chara whispered softly. "Take your time." Hero spoke as he then opened up a portal, Cross glancing over and seeing that it was the codes for his AU. Standing up, he then looked over it with Hero. "Huh, looks like I already changed the future outcome with telling Chara." Cross mumbled and Hero nods. "Actually, you're not the only one who chose to change the future." Hero spoke while Cross tilts his head. "Really?" "Yeah." Hero hummed. "Sans...?" Cross quickly turned to Chara. "What is it?" "... Why... Why tell me this...? If... If you already knew the outcome, then why would you let me know...?" Chara quietly asked and Cross walked over and kneeled down, placing his hands on Chara's shoulders. "Because I see you as a brother, Chara... I have for a very long time. I told you this because I don't want you to suffer anymore. I told you this because I care about you." Cross spoke softly while Chara looked at Cross in shock. He's heard of that line a lot of times, but never has he heard it from the skeleton himself... And the fact that he sees him as a brother as well? It's all so new...

"Once upon on time, we weren't even close. But overtime, we grew a bond that was so strong, we were inseperable. You don't remember it but I do. And I intend to keep those memories. You were so happy with the life you had with the family we had grown to love that I didn't knew if you would want the new future or the old one. I know that you might hate change because of what Gaster has put you through, but maybe you'll like this one change, because you have me as your forever ally." Cross spoke, wiping the tears that was now starting to stream down Chara's face.

"C'mon, I know you're very stressed and angry right now." Cross blinked before suddenly handing Chara a knife, surprising him. "Wh-What-" "Hero, Ima need something squishy yet hard." Cross glanced over and Hero nods, opening a portal and just dragging a bean bag through. "Stab the bean bag." Cross spoke and Chara stared st him oddly, but slowly nods and stabbed it. Blinking. He then quickly repeated the motion. "Don't be afraid to scream. It's only just me who'll hear." Cross softly said, Hero covering his ears and turning away. And so, Chara screamed. Absolutely murdering the bean bag as he kept stabbing it. Cross just patting Chara's shoulder as he allowed Chara's anger and stress to be released. Chara's stress reliever was always stabbing after all. So he knew it would travel over to this new Chara.

Cross then sits down on the nothingness that is the Anti-VOID.
