"Feeling better?" Cross asked as Chara panted softly. Chara just shakily nods and Cross pulled Chara into a hug, who was shaking in Cross' grasp. "It's okay to cry. Just because you're a guy, does not mean your feelings are invalid." Cross spoke softly. He remembers Nightmare telling them that specifically. And just like what they did, Chara sobbed. "Sheesh, X-Tale is really wack..." Hero mumbled as he then uncovered his ears. "Yeah..." Cross softly said as he gently pets the crying child. (It's been so long intensifies-)
Soon enough, Chara's crying ceased, and now just looking away in embarrassment. "Ugh, that was s-stupid..." Chara sniffled while Cross chuckled. "It may be for you, but I'm sure you feel a bit better now, yeah?" Cross tilts his skull, Chara glanced up at him and slowly nods. "Y-Yeah..." He whispered softly, making Cross smile and ruffle his hair. "Don't worry kid, you and Frisk are not alone anymore... Even though I never really got close to the Frisk before the new one..." Cross muttered and Chara blinked in surprise and looked up. "What... What do you mean...?" Chara softly asked. "Somewhere along timeline 6-8, Frisk changed... He wasn't the Frisk you're currently brothers with anymore... I don't know how it happened, as those timelines, I do not remember... But the one who did, told me that Gaster replaced Frisk." Cross hummed, he didn't really share X's memories but X did tell him enough of what happened, how X ended up becoming the ghost he basically mentally grew with, since outcodes don't really age.
"What?!" Chara gasped before squeezing his grip on Cross' shirt. "No... Nononono... That- That can't happen... No!" Chara shakily breathed and shook his head, he still has an attachment to Frisk, seeing as he is his brother. He can't have Frisk gone! "H-How- Why?!" Chara cried out and Cross turned away a bit. "How about I show you how the you from before told me...?" Cross then raised his hand and nods at Hero. Hero nods back before Cross felt the sudden wave of magic. Cross then focused a bit before a glitchy x portal appeared. Chara glancing at it in surprise, and with a bit of awe. He hasn't seen that before too. Cross then swiped his hand to the right and the portal widened. Seeing that the much taller Cross than the one now was currently sitting down on a dark purple couch. "Where are you...? And is that really you?" Chara asked in surprise. "Yeah, that's me. And where I was, was the home we had lived in." Cross explained, then soon enough, Chara's eyes widened when he saw a ghostly version of him suddenly appear besides Cross. "Why am I a ghost?!" Chara asked in shock. "It would be explained as well..." Cross hummed.
"Hey Cross?" "What is it X?" Cross looked up at the ghost who looked nervous. "I... I think I'm ready to tell you what happened in the three timelines..." X softly said and Cross blinked in surprise before patting the seat next to him. "You should sit down then. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be long." Cross spoke and X did sit down. "Don't worry X, whatever happened, it was in the past now. I don't ever hate you for whatever you might've done that is deemed wrong." Cross softly said and X grinned a bit. "Cheesy asshole." Cross laughed with X. "What can I say? I'm X-traordinary!" "Cross!" They laughed even more, and it seems to have eased X's worries. He took a deep breath in, and told the story.
Chara watched the interaction. They do look like brothers... No wonder Cross just... Had that vibe when he first met him... Chara continued to watch the entire thing, frowning and scowling once X has finished.
"And just like that, Mettatton was no more..." X whispered softly. Cross then pulled the ghost to hug, a tight one. X blinked before burying his face on X's scarf and clung to him tight. "Thanks for telling me, X..." Cross softly said and X just nods.
"That's... That's a lot to... To take in..." Chara whispered softly and Cross nods. "So... Your name is Cross... And I'm called X?" Chara, X, quietly asked. "First thing you ask is what our names are after finding out what happened in the three timelines?" Cross raised a brow in amusement while X blushed a bit in embarrassment. "Sh-Shut up!" X huffed, crossing his arms making Cross laugh. "We have quite a lot of time since the area we're in doesn't have a concept of time. For all we know, years has passed here and only a second has passed in our world." Cross chuckled and X blinks. "I told you this, so you won't have to rush in processing the information." Cross spoke and X then shakily smiled. "Thank you... Erm... I guess I should start calling you Cross?" X muttered as he scratched his cheek a bit. "Only if you want to. I don't mind either way since it's just us right now." Cross hummed and X smiled lightly. "Alright Sans..."
