I lay on the beach. It has been a while since I've relaxed. Even though I'm alone, I still can't let my mind stop racing. It's stressful really.
I opened my eyes and sat up. The waves silently hit the shore, I walked over to them. Slowly, I dipped my big toe in, then my foot, then my leg, then my stomach, then my head. I swam, so deep. The water froze my bones, this must have been how Mathew felt, the pain.
I dive down,
deep.
Deeper.
Deepest.I kicked my legs and pushed my arms up and down. It's odd, I just want to... stay here underwater, but my lungs don't want to.
As I come back to the surface, Mathew stood at the shore, his physical therapy got him standing again.
"Hi." He held his hand out to pull me out of the water.
"I didn't expect to see you here." I grabbed his hand and pulled myself up.
"I went to your house, you weren't there so your mom told me you might be here.
I nodded.
"I'm so so sorry. I wish, I just wish, I should remember you and the taste of your lips, and your warm hugs." he stares off into the horizon.
"Don't worry Matthew. The doctors they-" I wiped off the dripping water with my towel.
"They said I'm starting to regain memory and I have one foot in the grave too."
I sighed, "Matthew I still want you to spend the rest of your life with me still."
He nodded this time.
