The doctors ran in and Mathews eyes started slowly opening.
"Matt! Matt!" I kiss his face all over.
His eyes come open. The whites of his eyes red, his breath smelled like morning breath. Mrs. Horn came running in.
"Mom." His voice croaked quietly.
"Mathew! Thank The Lord." Misses Horn kissed his fingers.
"Babe!" I say sweetly, putting my hand on his.
"Ma, who is this?" Mathew said, mom turned and looked at me.

Mathew has been home for a week. I go to physical therapy with him everyday, but he doesn't remember me.
"Matt." we sit in the living room. It was like he was alive, but he wasn't truly alive. He looked up at me.
"Yes Annabelle?" He said my name, but it was more of a wiring than a name of someone he loves. His eyes seem blank; it's like he's here, but he's not really here.
"Do you still love me?" I look down at my jeans, the Miss Me Jeans he bought me for my birthday.
"I don't quite know Annabelle." His voice echoed through the room, giving me chills. The doctors says he won't be able to move his legs again, brain injuries are lethal, so he just sat in his chair, staring at the beige wall.
"How about we watch a movie? Wall-E, your favorite!" I try to shake off this feeling like he doesn't want me anymore. He does, he has to. Matthew and I sat in our chairs like strangers.
