Falling For You

Chapter 72

A few nights later, Poppy is in his bedroom trying to read The Strings latest letter. He is having trouble because, of his conflicting feelings. His head says that he is an Vampire Hunter and Branch is his enemy but, his heart sings different tune. The pink vampire sits on his bed with the white paper in his hands. Poppy is wearing some new clothes he bought with his own money. The spy is wearing black baggy shorts and a nice light purplish blue vest.

" We are so happy about your progress over the eight months. Cause of you we know more than we ever knew about the Vampire Queen. One day we will be able to deal with the Vampire Queen once and for all and vampires will no more be threat to troll kind. Your doing the right thing,Poppy. Remember that -...",Poppy reads out loud softly to himself but, then stops.

Poppy couldn't read any further! His heart becomes heavier in that moment as it beats while a sad amd conflicted look appears in his eyes. Poppy let's out a unhappy sigh to himself as his ears drop and he looks away from the letter by turning his head slightly to the left. Poppy honestly doesn't know what he is doing anymore.

Is he truly doing the right thing? Or does the Strings just think he is? Is basically using Branch for information right? To Poppy's mind he now feels like he no better than his ex - girlfriend who used him... Then Poppy turns his head back to the letter and frowns at it.

" Maybe I need some fresh air...",Poppy says softly to himself.

A moment later Poppy walks out of Vampdom into the forest slowly. He feels like he needs to be alone to think and figure out where he stands. Soon Poppy finds himself far away from the Vampire Kingdom and stops by a willow tree.

The former troll touches It's root with his right hand while he tilts his forehead against it as he sighs to himself confused. Then he turns around removing his forehead and hand from it. He looks into the distance with a frown on his face and sad look in his eyes. Poppy feels a song inside him form so he decided to let it out and flow in that moment as music plays in the background. The vampire starts walking forward as he begins to sing.

"A million thoughts in my head
Should I let my heart keep listening
'Cause up 'til now I've walked the line
Nothing lost but something missing...",Poppy sings softly.

Poppy has had his head filled up with conflicting thoughts for a long while now. He did as he was told by The Strings but, now it isn't that simple anymore. He didn't lose anything like other turned vampires did but, some reason I felt like he was missing something important from his life. Then Poppy finds himself in Branch's secret favorite part of the forest unknowingly. This is area is new to him.

" I can't decide
What's wrong, what's right
Which way should I go...",Poppy sings conflicted.

Poppy puts both hands on his head as he looks around him. He truly couldn't decide what was right and what was wrong. It feels sort of like he has to choose a side between Vampdom and his village but, how can he? The village has always been his home but, now Vampdom is like more than just place to Poppy...

" If only I knew what my heart was telling me
Don't know what I'm feeling
Is this just a dream?

If only...",Poppy sings conflicted.

The pink vampire runs up the small hill with the large tree. There are glowbugs and fireflies flying around relaxingly. Once he is on top of the hill and in front of the tree he spills with his arms swinging with him by his side. He looks all around him slowly as he slowly moves around but, doesn't get very far.

Poppy didn't know what his heart was telling him. He would usually listen to his heart with things and moments like this. He wished he could just figure everything out. Poppy also isn't really sure who is now. Is he a Vampire Slayer and troll or is he a Vampire of Vampdom. Honestly sometimes Poppy did doubt himself about who he really is before. Ever since Creek betrayed him he started having some doubt.

" Every step, every word
With every hour I am falling in
To something new, something brave
To someone I, I have never been...",Poppy sings.

Poppy slowly walks over to edge looking at the lake. He stops four troll feet away from it as the moonlight shines on him like a spotlight. Poppy has been truly falling since he started his mission but, in different ways. He has fallen in love with Branch and has been falling into her world. She made him feel like nobody else. She makes and helps him to be and feel like a better version of himself. He has become more himself with her than anyone else before.

" I can't decide
What's wrong, what's right
Which way should I go...",Poppy sings conflicted and more loudly.

Then suddenly it starts gently raining with thunder. Poppy looks up at the sky allowing the rain to gently pour on him as the critters disappeared. Poppy falls onto his knees gently a little dramatically.

" If only I knew what my heart was telling me
Don't know what I'm feeling
Is this just a dream?
Ah oh, yeah
If only I could read the signs in front of me
I could find the way to who I'm meant to be

Yeah...", Poppy sings a little louder but still softly.

Poppy's clothes and hair becomes wet. Poppy didn't care. He needed let all of his emotions out. He looks at the sky and the moon which is still out. The moonlight is still shining on him perfectly. Then at the end of the last lyric Poppy stands up slowly while he started thinking about of him and Branch's relationship.

" Am I crazy? Maybe we could happen
Yeah
Will you still be with me when the magic's all run out?...",Poppy sings a little louder then softer with the last few words of the last lyric.

The male vampire just looks up at the stars as he puts both his hands in his hair with his fingers slowly running through it. Poppy being in love with Branch made things less simple. Their basically enemies but, his heart wants her. He truly wonders if Branch would still be on his side with him in the end. Could it truly work between them? In a way they are like starcrossed lovers...

Ah oh...",Poppy sings conflicted.

Poppy removes his hands from his hair. He just stands there as he sings in the rain. Then unknowingly he moves a little closer to the edge and looks at the lake and It's surrounding environment. As he reaches the last lyric he just sang the gentle rain begins to slowly go away with the clouds slowly disappearing.

" If only, yeah
If only, yeah
If only, yeah
If only, yeah...",Poppy sings conflicted.

Unknownly to Poppy he is standing right on the edge. The former troll simply stares at the sight before him still unsure what he should do. The rain fully stops as all the rain clouds disappear.

" If only
If only...",Poppy sings softly.

Poppy continues to look out towards everything in front of him as he thinks. There is a lost look in his eyes. His mind isn't any clearer but, his heart beats slowly as if it was trying to tell him something. The music ends as Poppy just looks into the distance a little longer but, when he tries to turn around he slips on the slippery grass! He screams as he falls backwards into the lake water!

"AHHHH!",Poppy screams panicked and scared!

Then suddenly as his goes into the still lake water he hears Branch calling out to him worried! He didn't know that she was out here in the forest but, that is the last thing on his mind right now. He makes a splash as he hears Branch's worried scream!

" POPPY!",Branch's voice screams worried and scared out of nowhere.
