Falling For You

Chapter 22

Branch and Poppy are slowly walking through the festival. Branch is showing Poppy around. The pink vampire is very happy that she agreed. He looks around the festival in awe and sometimes does it walking backwards as he talks to Branch. Poppy is walking forward next to the Queen.

"So what are the festive activities and events?", Poppy asks curious.

Branch thinks for a moment before answering. There are a lot of festive activities and events!

" Well;there is the star gazing spot,the Moon lanterns release,the big show that tells story of why we celebrate the moon and so on... They are festive I guess...",Branch replies.

The activities Branch mentioned sound festive to him. The festival is about the Moon. The show certainly gets Poppy's attention. He really would like to know about why the vampires have a festival about the moon.

"The show sounds good. How about we go watch it together? You could even explain the parts I don't understand...", Poppy says honestly and happily.

Branch turns her head to Poppy. She is not sure if it is a good idea for Poppy.

" The show is an hour long. You don't really seem like the type to stay still and quiet for a long time right now.",Branch states honestly.

"I can be still and quiet if I wanted to! I'll prove it to you!", Poppy says confident.

Branch and Poppy stop walking. Branch folds her arms as she turns to Poppy. Poppy stands confident in front of the Queen. The last time Branch saw someone this confident it was during a warrior training session and a random warrior was trying to show off his skills. The guy was overconfident and a new recruit. He lost in the fight he was part of that night because, he kept on trying to flirt and brag to the female warriors watching. Nobody was impressed by him.

" Your going to prove it?",Branch says.

"Yes! We go to the show together and I'll be quiet and still. You won't be bothered by me at all!", Poppy declares.

Branch doesn't really think that Poppy could do now. He's very energetic. The Queen thought " Why not? He is so confident about it." Branch is going let Poppy prove his stupid point.

"Fine. Let's go so you can prove your stupid point...", Branch says.

Branch starts walking as a smile spreads across Poppy's face. He just got both what he wanted and is determined to prove himself to her that he can do something she thinks he can't do. Poppy catches up with Branch happily.

Soon Branch and Poppy reach the tent the show will be performed in. They stop at the ticket booth. The vampire in the booth notices the them stop in front of her. The Queen quickly pays for the tickets then she and Poppy went into the big tent to watch the show. Poppy quietly looks around and sees the decorations.

The tent is dark but, is lit up by the stage lights and fairy lights. The seating is simple benches without arm rests pushed next to each other forming long rows. Poppy and Branch go into the third row and sit down on a random bench. The pink vampire doesn't say a word. He just smiles happily. As the show starts Poppy's hand accidentally ends up on top of the Queen's hand. Branch notices it happen and looks at the male vampire. She raises an eyebrow at Poppy.

"Poppy,why is your hand on mine?", Branch asks.

Poppy turns his head to Branch confused but,then saw where his hand was. He is surprised that his hand is on hers! The male takes his hand off Branch's hand.

" Oh,Sorry...",Poppy apologized.

After the show, Branch and Poppy leave the tent. Branch is explaining something to the turned vampire. The show was amazing! The hunter loved the show and he had no idea that the story would be so magical. Plus; he was still and quiet through out the show so he proved Branch wrong but, it doesn't matter to them right now.

"The Moon Staff is like an ancient magical object. It is powered by moonlight and was given to King Silver at the time of the legend...",Queen Branch explains.

"Oh...", Poppy says happily understanding.

" Why the king have it destroyed? ",Poppy asks.

" Cause he knew that it was too powerful to have and that if it fell into the wrong hands again the kingdom would suffer. Many threats and enemies wanted to get their hands on it so he destroyed to make sure no vampire in Vampdom would be in danger or hurt by the power of the staff again. The staff is a great weapon but, it is the way others wanted to use it made it too dangerous...",Branch explains.

Poppy smiles at Branch. Something about her is interesting and luring to him. The hunter realizes that his mind is wondering away from the mission so he snaps out of it. As Branch looks at her people Poppy shakes his head. Then suddenly a little vampire runs fast into the Queen accidentally making her fall backwards. The hunter sees it happen and immediately catches her without thinking. They stare at each other shocked unsure what to say.

The moonlight shines on the Queen making her skin look like it is glowing and her natural beauty more clear to see. Poppy is in awe by her beauty again. His heart skips a beat. As Branch looks up at Poppy she notices how the moonlight surrounds him shining like a spotlight perfectly. His eyes seem to sparkle as his handsome looks become more clear to see. Poppy gives her a small smile that makes her heart skip a heart in that moment. It feels like time has stopped but, really they have been in their position for a minute.

The turned vampire slowly pulls Branch up back onto her feet. They both are blushing a little. The two vampires look at each other a little awkwardly. They don't understand what just happened when they were in the position. Something like this never happened before to them!

"Hmm...thanks for you know...", Branch says awkwardly and a little shy.

" Your welcome... ",Poppy replies softly.

The little vampire child walks up to the Queen feeling bad about causing her to fall. She looks up at the woman and tries to get the Queen's attention. Branch and Poppy look at the little girl. Branch brings herself to the child's level.

" I'm sorry about accidentally making you fall... ",the little girl apologized.

She lowers her head thinking that she is in trouble. Branch notices it then pulls her head back up.

" It's okay,Sarah. Just be more careful and watch where you are going next time or else you and others could get hurt badly. ",Branch says softly.

Sarah smiles at the Queen and nods her head understanding. Then Poppy and Branch take Sarah back to her parents. The girl's father picks her up as her mother thanks them for bringing her back to them. Sarah had wondered off when they turned around earlier was just a second! They have been looking for her. Then the happy family walk away from Branch and Poppy. The Queen and the turned vampire watch them walk away.

" She is a cute kid.",Poppy comments honestly.

"She is. A little careless sometimes but,she's a good kid...", Branch admits.

Then they turned around and walk away talking. Poppy remembers his mission and decides to start asking her questions. His mission isn't the only reason why he made his decision... He is curious himself about her.
