Skylar was very exited driving into the town, it was a little run down, but had a lot of potential and she could see how friendly the community was not like her house in Australia, it was a small apartment on a busy street with rude neighbours. She was exited to be finally living near the ocean and having fresh air in her hair.
"Where here mum" skylar lightly tapped her mums shoulder to wake her but her mum was already smiling, looking at the little house.
Her grandparents owned this house ever since her mum was a kid and she loved it. It was right near the beach and even had its own dock on the water, she quickly unpacked the car eager to see her grandparents when the door flung open.
"Your here!" a little voice yelled causing skylar to jump, it was her grandma she hobbled over to skylar so exited as she hadn't seen her in a few years. "Grandma i missed you so much" skylar said whilst squeezing the women, "where's grandpa?" "oh he's just doing some work right now he will be back for dinner tonight" her grandma explained.
They quickly got their luggage inside and skylar helped her mother to the couch as she was still very weak from the chemo. Skylar took her luggage to her room which still loooked the same from when she was a kid, her bed was right under a window looking out over the water and she had a one direction poster and a surfing poster on the wall. Skylar was very eager to get out and see the town as she hasn't seen it since she was about 12, she packed her her backpack quickly with some sunscreen, her notebook, some money and a water bottle, then she quickly got changed into this:

She kissed her grandma goodbye, "I'll be back later i'm going to go explore and maybe make some friends" skylar explained before walking out the door.
It wasn't long before Skylar made her way to the beach and sat down on the gorgeous white sand just embracing the views, she took out her notebook and sketched the scenery, before she knew it the sun was going down, the girl decided to stop off at a little shop near the beach on her way home to look at some surfboards, she had to leave hers back in Australia as it was to expensive to take on the plane, when she walked into the shop she was greeted by a nice young girl, a little older than her by the looks of it and started looking at some boards, suddenly skylars phone went off:
Grandma
Hey sweety grandpa just got home if you want to to see him.
Of coarse! i'll be right home
Skylar raced out of the store after thanking the girl and ran home, she loved her grandma of coarse but her grandpa was very special to her, she always had a special bond with him. She was almost home when out of nowhere a blonde boy came around the side of a boat rack not watching where he was going and crashed into her causing them both to fall onto the ground.
"Hey watch where you going next time!" Skylar growled. "Sorry i was distrac- hey cool accent, i don't think i have seen you around here before do i know you?" "probably not unless you were here 4 years ago and the accent is aussie" the girl scoffed. "oh cool well i've been here my whole life but i don't think we have met, I'm Jj" "Skylar, and i really have to go but it was nice to meet you, well besides crashing into you" The boy let out a slight giggle and started walking away. "wait blonde!" "it's Jj but ye" "do you want to hang out tomorrow? , with.. me?" Skylar was nervous but thought she would take the opportunity to make a friend. "Sure meet me a the wreck around 11" he said with a grin before walking away towards the little surfboard shop. She was very pleased with herself as she just made a friend even though she had never had that much courage before. She had no idea what 'the wreck' was but she was just happy to have met someone nice.
When she arrived home she was greeted by her grandpa and they chatted for about an hour about the journey over to outer banks and the town before she mentioned Jj, her grandpas face dropped at the name and Skylar was confused, her grandfather only said "make sure you keep an eye on him, that boy has a hell of a reputation and i don't want you getting in trouble" that kind of scared Skylar but she shook it off trusting her grandpa. After dinner Skylar went into her room and texted all of her friends from back home, she missed them but she was exited to make new ones. Before bed she went and kissed her mother goodnight and had a quick shower and washed her hair with coconut shampoo + conditioner. She layed in her bed listening to the waves hit the sand and slowly drifted off to sleep.
