"Who were we?"

The wind, the weather, the sky everything looked fine until the question escaped from his mouth. He stared at the void eyes in front of him. The cold walls engulfed him whole in that thick silence as he stood in the middle of the living room. Jeongguk was looking at him, capturing every gaze and registering every word. Taehyung had an urge to gulp. Did he ask something wrong? Because other than a humorless chuckle, he didn't get any answer. The dazed mind of his was exhausted, yearning to know the answers to his question. What were they? Who were they?

When Jeongguk left him in the living without saying anything, Taehyung felt his body giving up. He sat on the couch hiding his face in his palms. A groan left from his mouth as he leaned back feeling drowsy and failed. The footsteps of the other were heard in that silent hall and Taehyung looked up with a bewildered expression. Jeongguk was walking towards him, gaze dropping at him miserably. There was something in his hands and Taehyung could recognize it even in his sleep. The black journal, his fairy tales, his trace of existence. Taehyung skipped a beat, hands itching to reach out and grab it from the male and hug the journal to the moon. He stood up and stomped towards Jeongguk but the male had other plans. He placed a hand on Taehyung's shoulder and told him to sit down calmly. The long eyes staring at him and Taehyung couldn't help but stay like that, puzzled and waiting to hear the deserved answer from Jeongguk.

"We were... strangers...

I was living a life, working hard, eating well, and in an abyss of love. But then I stumbled upon a case. Suicide of Kim Taehyung. I was a good listener and Tae was a good storyteller. We were a good match. If he was the ballads then I was the melody. The best unit.

One day, I realized- I crossed the line. I fell in love with him. With a man I never saw, with a soul, I never had a hope to meet, with a purple heart that I believed far away from me, out of my reach, opposite to the moon. But then...

The universe doesn't hate me that much. Neither I'm a favorite one. But you're. Because of every time, you go away from me, or I go away from you, all you have to do is close your eyes and I will be there- our love will be there to take you to me... and all I have to do is search for you within me."

A soft touch on his cheeks made Taehyung snap out of his thoughts. Jeongguk wiped his tears, passed an enchanting smile. Taehyung grabbed Jeongguk's hands, which caught the younger off-guard, and looked at him with doe eyes. The words died down in Taehyung's throat and he felt his heart stop pumping blood. It's all a mirage. He was loved dearly. Guilty filling in his head, gaze ashamed to meet Jeongguk and Taehyung cursed his fate. Why was it always him and his loved ones? Taehyung doesn't deserve to be treated like that. He's a true admirer of the universe and miracles. And now, he can't help but judge destiny.

"No, no Tae, No. Don't cry. This is not your fault. This is no one's fault. It's just--- fate is so weak to see lovers uniting. That's it.

And yeah... we were lovers. I'm still in love with you. And I know, you're too, deep down, I know you have your heart tattoed in my name. I will wait for you. If we lose summer, we have our spring to unite. Take your time, Tae..."

Jeongguk paused. His voice cracking down like the last broken pieces of Taehyung's heart. His words shivering just like the soul in Taehyung, scared to lose the only moon of his pitch darkness. What if spring never comes? What if it's only freezing winter forever? No. That can't happen. Love breaks every stereotype and creates its own world. True waiting will find a way. Taehyung quivered like a fallen petal, not ready to leave something in the world before fading away to the core of the earth. He wanted to say one last word to his moon.
