I hate buses, especially school buses. They stink literally. Why couldn't I just drive myself to States, wait, because we have to go as a team. It would be so much easier, but oh well. At least I have my IPod and phone to keep me company.

It's been almost a week since I had left Ashley and Jinxx and the rest of the guys. I never thought I would miss them this much. I thought we were going to be just friends and stuff, but they had become like family to me. I would text them occasionally, but no matter what, I missed them.

I grabbed my phone and began to text Ashley. I was getting more nervous about the meet the longer I thought about it. He could calm me down in a matter of minutes.

Peach- hey :)

Not even a minute later he responded to my text. Then the butterflies began to diminish.

Ash- hey! How's ur day goin?

Peach- good but today's the state meet! I'm so nervous

I put my phone down and turned up my music while waiting for his reply. Youth and Whiskey began to play and I let Andy's deep voice wash over me. I felt my phone vibrate and picked it up.

Ash- you will do great! Don't worry

This brought a smile to my face. Heck even thinking about him would do that. I wonder if he has that effect on everyone?

Peach- but I am worrying! Ugh I wish u were here

Ash- yeah me too, but strange things could happen...

This got me to thinking. What could Ashley mean, strange things could happen. I wonder what he is even talking about?

Peach- like pigs flying?

Ash- exactly :)

I just shook my head at his randomness. That's one of the many things I love about him. He could always calm me down and put me at ease.

Peach- you r one strange man Ashley Purdy. well I'm almost, there wish me luck!

Just as I set my phone down it began to buzz like crazy. Then I saw five new texts. I could only guess who they were from.

Ash- sure thing princess, good luck

CC- beat their asses! You will do great Peaches! :D

Andy- you got this kiddo, show them who's boss!

Jake- go get um tiger!

Jinxxy- blow them out of the water! You got this Peaches :)

I sent them all thanks and turned my phone off. I had to get my game face on. Eventually we got to the track. I have been to previous meets for states but this time it would be my last time. I got off the bus with my bags and helped the team set up our tent. Then the team began to warm up and do stretches.

As I stretched I could see some of the guys from other teams whistle and stare at me. I just ignored them to the best of my ability. They probably won't be doing that if i wasn't wearing a fitted shirt under my track uniform. I hated when guys would do that. I wish Ash would come and tell them off. Dang there he is sneaking back into my mind.

After my stretches I walked over to the throwing pits. I carried my favorite discus in one hand and my lucky shot in the other. I got over to the throwing circles and set my utensils down. I did a couple more stretches and got warmed up.

Today must be good, because I was throwing like a boss! All of my releases were up to par and my foot work seemed flawless. So before I hurt myself I stepped out of the circle. I had to keep warmed up so I began to jog around with my earbuds in.

Finally it was time to throw. I was towards the top of the list so I could get the discus done and over with first. This year the girls went first with discus and the guys went first with the shot put.

I got in my stance and let my instincts take over. My surroundings were blocked out and I set my focal point. My muscles moved with such fluency, I couldn't imagine it being any better. I let my arm swing around and felt the disc roll across each finger. I let out a small scream and came to a stop. I walked out the back of the circle and waited for my distance.

"120 feet 8 inches"

That was one of my personal bests! I continued my throws until my turn was up. By the end of the disc, the farthest I threw was 129 feet 8 inches.

Then it was onto my favorite throwing event. I lived for the shot put. I had to walk a small distance but it was worth it.

While walking over I took notice of how nice of a day it was. The sun was out and shinning. A light breeze was floating around. It was about 79 degrees. So it was the perfect day for state meet. Thank goodness I had my aviator sunglasses with me or I would be as blind as a bat.

I got to the pit and saw a group of guys standing around. Their backs were to me but they felt oddly familiar. I wanted to go up and ask who they were, but I'm not a very outgoing person. So I just kept to myself.

Once the guys were done with shot it was the girls turn. I took my place in the pit and began to warm up. I looked over by the group of guys trying to see who they were. It was hard to tell because they all wore black sweatshirts of some sort with black pants and boots.

I just tried to focus on my throwing. I practiced a few times and rested. I put my ear buds in and waited for my turn to come up. This time I was at the end of the list, but that was a good thing. I got to see the competition. There were some good throws but I knew I could do better. I know, I know I sound cocky but that is what partially helps me throw my best.

I was called up. I grabbed my silver shot put and walked in the back of the concrete ring. I felt all eyes on me and I took a deep breath. I stepped up to the toe boras and looked out over the sand pit. Then I walked back and got into my form. I choose a stone as my focal point. Then my muscles pushed off and I swiftly moved towards the end of the circle. I arched my back and let that shot fly. I came out of my quick adrenaline rush and walked out of the circle.

"42 feet 6.5 inches"

That was my personal best! It used to be 40 feet even but now. I couldn't get it through my mind. It's crazy. I got back in the circle and threw two more times both in the 39 to 41 foot range. I couldn't be any more pleased with how this day has turned out. All I had to do was wait for my results.

I looked around to see that almost everyone had left, except for that group of guys. I went to pick my shot up and saw that they had begun to move towards me. I was about to ditch my stuff and run. Then they removed their hoods and my day got even better.
