Chapter 3: Hothead

Liana's in her cheer uniform with her sweater on talking to Whitney. Liana says, "Don't you even care about this?" Whitney says, "I don't see what the big deal is." Liana says, "You don't think it's a big deal? I think it's a big deal." Liana walks away from Whitney to her friends and Chloe says, "Are you okay?" Liana says, "He just doesn't care about this whole cheating scandal and that bothers me." Chloe says, "Well here's your chance at exposing them. For your next article I want the cheerleader, who's my best friend, to expose their cheating ass." Liana smiles says, "Okay." Liana gets her camera out and takes pictures of the Coach, "Look, I don't wanna hear any rumors going around any false accusations. We got a problem -- Hey, what's she doing?" One of the football players throw a football at Liana and Clark catch's it. Pete says, "Ooh, nice catch." Liana says, "One of your teammates attempts to assassinate me and all you can say is nice catch?" Liana locks arms with Chole and they both walk away. Later at Liana's locker, Whitney comes over and says, "So are we okay?" Liana says, "This isn't about us." Whitney says, "The guys made a mistake. I don't see what the big deal is." Liana says, "Whitney, they cheated. I don't know how you can support them." Whitney say, "Because their our friends." Liana says, "If they were really my friends they wouldn't have cheated. Seven of your teammates cheated. It could ruin our school reputation and the team captain doesn't care. I'm going to be writing an article exposing them and there's nothing you can say to stop me." Liana slams her locker shut and walks away. Later, Liana's at cheer practice and is a little down that Lana made her decision to quit cheerleading. As Clark comes out in his uniform he smiles when he sees Liana and Liana slightly smiles at Clark. After cheer practice, Liana catch's up with Pete and Clark and says, "Clark, you were pretty amazing out there." Clarks smiles and says, "Thanks." Pete says, "Where did your dad run off to?" Clark says, "Yeah, he kind of had to get back to the farm." Then they see the principal's car on fire and him screaming in it. Clark says, "Go get help." Pete and Liana nod and run to find help. Later, Liana is with her friends and Chloe says, "You guys it doesn't make sense. Cars don't just spontaneously combust." Clark says, "The cops said it was faulty wiring." Chloe says, "Liana, I think I got you the perfect headline: Jockstrap Saves Principal From Burning Car." Liana frowns and says, "Will you lay off the jockstraps thing? It sounds weird and no not using that idea for a headline." Chloe says, "Whatever, I still can't believe Clark's been blinded by the Friday-night lights." Clark says, "I joined a football team not a cult." Chloe says, "Yeah, next thing you know, I'm gonna be joining the pom-pom bridge." Liana says, "There's an open spot actually, so why don't you?" Chloe says, "Are you serious? No way." Pete says, "You'd have all the boys be drooling at you." Chloe says, "Yeah, that's why I don't wanna be a cheerleader." Liana sees Lana and says, "Lana, what are you doing here?" Lana says, "Taking your order I hope." Chloe says, "What-what is this? Some sort of like a cheerleading charity? Like-be-a-waitress-for-a-night sort of thing?" Lana says, "Yes it is, except for the cheerleading and charity parts. And tips are always appreciated." Liana says, "So you're a waitress for real?" Lana says, " Even got the perky nametag to prove it." Pete says, "First day?" Lana says, "Ever." Lana says, "Now, if I could only tell the difference between an a half-calf decaf and a non-fat latte." Chloe says, "In that case, I'll just have a regular coffee." Pete says, "Make that three." Lana looks at her sister and Liana says, "I'm good." Lana nods and walks away. They all sit down and Chloe says, "So your sister quit the cheer squad, why?" Liana says, "She doesn't think it's really for her, she was only doing it for my benefit." Pete says, "Your lucky you have any older sister like Lana." Liana says, "Yeah, I am." Liana sees the football jocks leaving and goes to follow them. Liana's at the football field taking pictures of what's happening. The next day at the pep rally, Liana and the rest of the cheerleaders shout, "Come on, Crows, let's go. Come on, Crows, let's go. Come on, Crows, let's go." Liana sneaks away from the group and goes to meet Trevor. Trevor says, "Why'd you call me? What do you want?" Liana says, "I wanna know if Coach Walt supplied the players with the tests." Trevor says, "Look, Liana if you don't wanna get hurt, just leave this alone." Liana says, "Look, you can either talk to me now or later. Either way, this picture's gonna be on the front of tomorrow's "Torch"." Liana shows him the photo and he says, "Just leave me alone." Liana goes to The Torch and starts to print the picture. The computer catch's on fire and she gasps. The fire spreads across the whole room. Liana's uses her power's to conceal the fire and it works. As Liana was using her powers, Clark saw the fire and went to go to the The Torch. Clark walks into the room and finds Liana and a room full of burnt equipment and some ice around the place. Clark says, "Liana, are you okay?" Liana says, "Not really." Clark says, "The "Torch" torched. How's that for dramatic irony?" Liana huffs and slightly glares at Clark and Clark says, "Just trying to get you to smile." Liana says, "This more arson, Clark. It's like the fire knew what I was doing." Clark says, "And you believe Coach Walt was somehow controlling it?" Liana says, "Look at the facts. Principal Kwan launches an investigation into the cheating scandal. Coach tries to fry him in his car. Then one of his players comes forward and he threatens them all with pyrotechnic sprinklers. I'm about to print the picture and the "Torch" goes up in flames." Clark says, "Now you think he's behind the cheating scandal? Come on, Liana." As Clark is walking away away, Liana says, "Coach is obsessed with winning his 200th game and helps bonehead players pass the test so he can secure his position in the pantheon of high-school sports." Clark says, "Do you have another picture?" Liana says, "No, it's kind of hard to recover the files." Clark says, "We don't have any proof." Liana smiles and says, "On the contrary, we do, Trevor Chapell." Clark says, "What about him?" Liana says, "I'm sure he's the one that talked to Kwan about the cheating. He wants to talk, I know it, but I think he might open up to one of his teammates, you." The next day, at the game Liana's cheering for her team. Later, Liana walks onto the field and sees Clark. Liana says, "Peaceful, isn't it?" Clark says, "Hey, I'm sorry you didn't get to cheer for me for my first game." Liana smiles and says, "It's okay, I'm just happy that Coach Walt is finally getting exposed for what he did." Clark says, "He won his 200th game and didn't even see it." Liana says, "Are you gonna play next season?" Clark says, "I don't know if football's for me. I mean, my dad played, my grandad played. I think it's time to break the vicious cycle." Liana says, "You sound just like Lana, why the change of heart?" Clark says, "I don't know, I guess I got out on the field and realized my reason for playing was gone." Liana says, "I'm sorry to hear that." Clark says, "Who said life was fair?" Liana says, "Are you gonna be okay?' Clark says, "Sometimes I just wanna scream." Liana says, "So why do we?" Clark says, "Why don't we what?" Liana says, "Scream. I'm game if you are." Clark says, "Are you serious?" Liana says, "Why not?" Clark smiles and says, "On three. One, two, three." They both scream on the field.
