I think school gives us a great opportunity
to learn for life!

If I would learn as much as you do,
Felipe, I would become a college lecturer!
FELIPE GOMEZ
There is no other reasonable way to
spend one's time!
INEZ GUTIERREZ

You don't know how to spend your
time even if your girlfriend is around?!

Pepe Mendoza is drinking in a bar, it is daylight. The bar owner is suspicious.
SERGIO ALVAREZ is in his 50s. He is the bar owner, easy-going and fun-loving.
SERGIO ALVAREZ
Pepe, why don't go to a bar close to
your home!
PEPE MENDOZA
(embarrassed)
Mr. Alvarez, we know each other since
I was a little boy!
SERGIO ALVAREZ
That's why I'm telling it to you nicely,
my boy!
PEPE MENDOZA
Mr. Alvarez, don't you worry, everything
will change for the better now! Life is giving
me a second chance!
SERGIO ALVAREZ
Did you fall on your head one or two?
PEPE MENDOZA
No, Sir! I have an angel looking after
me and she told me about a great
opportunity!
SERGIO ALVAREZ
Why would an angel look after you?
You are a lazy no-good, who lives
of other people?
PEPE MENDOZA
Mr. Alvarez, you are like a father to me!
I will not respond to that!
SERGIO ALVAREZ
(thoughtfully)
I'm just busting your balls, boy!

PEPE MENDOZA
As you know, Mr. Alvarez in Mexico are no
jobs, and those jobs you get are like slave
labor. You don't get a dim, while the capitalist
takes all of it! I tried to find a job but to no
avail!
SERGIO ALVAREZ
I could help you to get a job, boy!
I will mention it to everyone who comes in
here that you are looking for a job! Someone
must know something!
PEPE MENDOZA
Don't bother! They don't know more then
I do! I looked everywhere for a job!
SERGIO ALVAREZ
Maybe they know someplace you don't
know!
PEPE MENDOZA
I wanna make a decent living Mr. Alvarez!
I wanna marry, buy myself a car and a house
for my wife and children. I cannot do that
with scrapes, Mr. Alvarez!
SERGIO ALVAREZ
How do you think we make a living!
Yes, it is hard work, but you have to put in
the effort everywhere. That's life!
PEPE MENDOZA
What if you can do better?
SERGIO ALVAREZ
I heard that crap so many times! If you
are smart you don't listen to fairy tales.
Get yourself a decent job and start
working for your future now!
PEPE MENDOZA
You are old school, Mr. Alvarez!
SERGIO ALVAREZ
I'm from the school, where people work
for their dreams!
PEPE MENDOZA
But think of it! Isn't it unfair that you
work your ass here in Mexico day and
night, and you get nothing for it? While
someone in the USA doesn't even do half
and lives in a little palace and drives
around in an expensive car?
SERGIO ALVAREZ
What do you know about hard work?
Did you ever work hard in your life?
PEPE MENDOZA
I have, Mr. Alvarez!
SERGIO ALVAREZ
Where?
Pepe is embarrassed and doesn't respond!
SERGIO ALVAREZ (CONTINUED)
You are telling me the stories you heard
from the mouths of people, who didn't
know anything about life either! You
have to make your experience, you
have to live in order to understand
and appreciate the value of life! And
before you haven't done that you will
never be able to be happy!
Sergio leaves Pepe speechless and embarrassed.
